It may have been nicer with a star six filter but very nice just the same , maybe a touch over exposed to me but then again thats personal preference.

Here's one I took some time ago just goofin off and it looked interesting, I should have stopped the lens down to increase the DOF and capturt the bug eye mirror and Anne at the same time.
Well I think Maurie has the best moon shot. Mine has a bit of motion blur (despite the IS). I had a ball head at the time, but it couldn't take the weight of the 100-400 + camera + grip.
From memory, the shot was at f/11 1/250 or thereabouts. I didn't follow the sunny 16 rule. It was a clear night, though.
Thanks Maurie for showing us two very stunning photographs!!
Yes, I also reckon that he has the best moon shot. Could you tell us the setting, equipment used etc. That wasn't a telescope shot was it.
Yeah, Ed, that's about the setting I used, I will give a go when I see the moon next. Shooting the moon is tough as it's so unpredictable. Sometimes you see it high up the sky, after half an hour it's gone to a totally different position. And you can't really combine a moon in a shot unless you do double exposure or whatever digitally.
There's no way that I'd hang my camera in front of the car and drive around. It might be good to do it with a small digicam or something. If you could set it to take a shot every 10 seconds or so and just drive around in traffic. Maybe late at night.
MMmmnnn where shall I start . OK Surveyer's tripod ( bloody Solid ) Flat mount with dome head allowing about 5 Deg Up/Down wait for the cheese Ball to crest the Horizon with Yellow filter to cut the Cheesy look when she comes over the Horizon. the blaze away with my Bigma and the D1H and some converter's.
A lot of post proscessing to get it clearer even though the original was fairly good,
1/250 f/22 in RAW and then the usuall sharpening cropping etc .
Yes it was my bigma not the best lens for this sort of thing but it worked and I was lucky to have a clear night and solid mount and that make so much difference it ain't funny.
Oh try using a DARK FRAME for noise reduction in PS, this way it will be the same pixel bleed as your Camera at the same time and more importantly at the same temperature as your timed shots.
If I havn't mentioned it before have a look at http://www.srsphotography.com/experiments/index.html , I know this is a tad radical given the time frame but it showes what can be done. This is an Astro Photography trick when layering R,G,B HA frames together.
Hi all
On sunday afternoon the redbull aerobatic plane put on a a little show around the northern beaches did anyone catch some of the action. It might have also appeared around the southern beaches as well. I just managed to get a few pics here is one
Nice capture there. This is one of those shots that you see in those "inspirational" posters. just need an interesting caption to go with it.
The madi gras details are a few pages back, but were going to be meeting at starbucks on elizabeth st, around 5:15pm. Walk around and then dinner (i think).
Finally a reply regarding the TC!!! I have a sigma 70 -200 f2.8 really nice lense, wanted to add a TC so I bought the canon 2X. Not realising the canon tc only works on canon L series lenses which is a bummer. Now I am looking for a converter that will work on sigma lenses. I know sigma has one but hard to come by on ebay.
