Anyone get any of the lightning this morning? One question.. with those pesky P&S cameras, those that take lightning shots with them look so terribly over exposed and make the lightning like a HUGMONOUS light rather than a nice crisp line. Do those P&S change aperature half way through or something?
Just an observation......It seems very funny to me that you or anyone would be shooting winter sunrises in June to August. I live in Texas and well while you are bundled up in a coat in August I am enduring 98 degree days with 90% humidity.
August is synomous with hot while December and Christmas is supposed to be cold. I certainly would not be on my jet ski in January.
Certainly it is... Winter in Christmas is just a mythical dream we have inside shopping centres but Christmas is all about beach, pretty girls with not a lot on, long holidays, hot and sweaty Santas standing out on roads, and good gelato.

Well if someone had a great balcony, private facilities so that we could all set up tripods without the hassle of being bumped around by throngs of 'revellers', I'd go take photos too....
Maybe a rooftop from some building somewhere... ? top of novetel at brighton-le-sands?
Chris, I think it's good to keep it going and just update the first message.
rwwlee, you can see nothing from the Novotel apart from ful sik WRX and Skylines... you need at least a 400mm lens to get anything close enough for a photo.... I vote Jame's idea.
Hi gang , any ideas for a Shoot in the new year as I have a prospective interested party wanting to come along.
Sorry I havn't been about of late as I've been busy onb a couple of other projects.

James, then it's a deal.. I'll bring the beers.
Hey! Woah! I can't invite anyone along - sorry guys (i'm not even going to Waverton myself) and the balcony is so small there would be just enough room for 3 tripods and no guests. Sorry lads, not an option
yeah i saw on the news they where snow leopards ... the enclosure was closed until they settle in...... i realy wanted to see them,.......
chris.. gorilla shots with 10D 300 f4 w/ 1.4x tele....
thanks for the comments guys.... did the gallery work smoothly......
Michael, the web site went very smoothly.. though I'm not too much of a fan of flash... still, it's very impressive.
Question time... I've got 2 days to drive about (25th and 26th).. destination suggestion? Nothing opens on the 25th so it'd be a drive but I want to make the most of the week off.
Weather report says it's going to be extremely hot for the next few days, so I'd suggest either a coastal drive (up the coast, not down) or the mountains.
Great shots Michael , lovely sharp and good colours . The 300 with the tele 1.4 really sings . Good setup with your gallery also . Loads nice and quick .

I am thinking Snowy mountains... wouldn't mind trying a bit of fishing there... though I know jack all about fly fishing.
The quickest way to learn and find out about the "local" areas is probably get some sort of guide or tution package although they do not come cheap. Can save a lot of time and fustration which could put you off for ever. I have used a couple in the South Island of NZ when I have been there and have had limited time even though I have been fishing for years.
Yeah, I agree.. but considering I have no fly fishing gear (I have gear for bait fishing) but that's about it... but I'm still deciding where to go... it's just that I've got a car to test and only got 2 days to get out and be back for Christmas party.
