Yeah the lens is great, it's one of my favorites. jefonyx wrote:
I wasn't critique, just observations. When something is less sharp or more nervous it is just an observation. That does not mean I don't like it
As you can see, this lens is absolutely fine for what I do
Going through this thread, the rendering of this lens is beautiful. Nikon joins Olympus Pro, Canon RF and Leica SL, as my favourite modern day 50 fov lenses. Keep the images coming, this thread is a visual delight.
I have owned Nikon's 50 1.8G (average), Sony's 50 1.8 (dog poop), Fuji's 35 F2 (pretty good) and the 50 1.2S is honestly my favorite 50. I never owned anything top quality, but the S is honestly one of my favorite walk around primes. Glad I bought it, love shooting with it. fsi22 wrote:

Swapped out the 58mm F1.4 for the 50mm F1.2 and just doing some basic testing with my dog. He's typically pretty challenging for AF systems even in standard scenes due to his dark eyes and dark fur. So far so good with the 50mm F1.2. Although I think I still have a slight preference for the 58s bokeh.

Thanks for keeping me sad about my decision today to return the 50 1.2 - that 2nd image especially is fantastic! I tried the 50 1.2 and really liked it but I have the 58 1.4 and the 50 1.8S. I was surprised at how different all three lenses were and how much those 8mm really make a difference. Can't justify owning the three but all three are special in their own way. Must....fight....the.....GAS.....for now!
