Some family heirlooms. A wooden drawer chest and iron vase (I think). Both were buried prior to the Bombing of Tokyo in March 1945, but due to the heat from the incendiary bombs dropped by 279 B-29 Superfortress bombers, they were damaged and the marks remain to this day. My mom's family escaped, but their home was burned and destroyed.
The Bombing of Tokyo is overshadowed by the atomic bombings on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, but it killed around 100,000 civilians and displaced around 1,000,000 people. Each B-29 was stripped of all its guns except the tail gun in order to increase speed and capacity to hold 40 E-46 bombs. This one was taken with the 85 GM because I didn't have enough space in my room for the 105
