Ooof, the Northrup's video shows really poor AF. Of course they also pointed out how much of a PITA it is to use w/o the front dial or joystick. Gotta watch some more reviews but so far it's not looking good to me at least. If your one redeeming feature is fancy AF and that AF is having trouble locking on or tracking then I dunno...

As I said before; drop a couple of ounces off your belly, ass, and thighs and you can pack a full-featured camera without a weight penalty.
I can see this as an "intro to FF" camera but I can't see current owners of the 3rd/4th gen cameras selling them to buy this.
Quite frankly; cost aside, I can't see it as a compelling second camera either.
My $.02; nothing more.
I don't think that is intended to replace the more full fledged FF bodies...its positioned to either be an entry point to FF or a secondary camera. It's very clearly pitched this way in the reveal vids...more lifestyle based and less technical presentations

As someone who absolutely prioritizes size and doesn't mind it at this price (though like everyone else prefer a couple more buttons and a 36mp+ sensor), that EVF is extremely off putting. The EVF resolution are fine, not perfect, for me--but .059x? Ouch. Just brutal.
I'll have to try one in person before I commit to buying now. Even with the lowly magnification of the original a7 at 0.71x I would have preordered...

Man that is a tiny camera with some tough ergonomic choices. I get that the benefit over the RX1 series is that it has the E mount but I think I would rather have an RX1r.

It's the same EVF unit as the newest @6xxxx cameras.
The difference is APS-C vs. FF, which changes the multiplier factor.
They share the same magnification (0.70x) but the recently released Sony A6100's EVF has only 1,440,000 dots. I bought one for my daughter last year and she hates me now!

I have quite a few friends wanting a FF sensor in a small body like his. They are totally fine with this camera and like what they see. I think most enthusiasts on the other hand see this with the experience with A9,A7riv like bodies in mind. But I think that to be the wrong perspective. We will see how it sells.

Not a day one purchase for me but I think this would be great to pick up on sale or used someday with a set of Loxia or Voigtlander primes. Aesthetically, they would fit well. Maybe a Loxia 21, 35, 85 set with the Sigma 45mm for AF. Or Voigtlander 21mm f3.5, Voigtlander 50mm APO, and Voigtlander 110mm with the Sony 35mm f2.8 for AF.

It drops to $900 for Black Friday, I'm in. Otherwise, I'll stick with the fp for another year or so until the a7C starts showing up on the B&S board, at which point I'm sure I'll pick one up.

That has been my prediction since the price was released.
Considering this costs more than an A7III (here in Aus anyways) but is more crippled compared to one regarding the one card slot, no electronic shutter, low res EVF etc I know it wouldn’t be for me.
