Seems like a camera that many here have been calling for. I might sell my A7III for this and keep the RIV for heavy lifting. That would be a great travel combo.

Well, more waiting for the rumored A7IV I guess. And if that doesn't live up to expectations it looks like an A9 or A7RIV then. How many flogging cameras does this make now? Or was so many rumored that this is the only one?!

New lens line will be announced too: The compact lenses will have the code “V”
The last of the bullet points in the SAR post mentions a new lens line. Could those be compact primes from Sony?
Hopefully. A line of small f/2-2.8 primes with smart compromises would be very much welcome. I'm hoping we can also see some small but competent zooms in the 1.5x-2x range.

I'm liking all of what I'm reading about it on this. And good news is if it's a new "line" hopefully that means we'll get higher MP bodies as well. Smaller lenses would also be welcome for those of us that travel. Not sure about a $2k+ price when you have the A7III available for that, although the size might convince me.

If this really happens at the spec level of the A73, and with a new compact line of VX lenses, and some of those lenses are high quality (a new 28mm f2? a new 50mm f/2?, a small zoom with the quality of the APS-C 10-18, but without the copy variation?!!!), count me in immediately, maybe at the intro prices!

You can't leave out the mythical GM-IQ-like compact 35mm ~f/2 ...

The new line of lenses caught my attention too and I haven’t forgotten about the curved sensor patent either! Does C = curved sensor for the A7c Ha Ha. Ok, I know most think C = compact. Anyway, curved sensor requires a whole new line of lenses, Maybe “simpler, more compact” 😎

I would love that, but I think a small GM quality 35 is likely a unicorn. And the 35/1.8 is pretty small as it is. But I would take a good quality VX 35mm f/2 in a flash!
I hope Sony works at getting the rendering right for these small lenses. It clearly can be done.
The pricing of higher than the current A73 suggests that Sony is not going cheap with this, and the "C" designation with a new line of lenses means they are committed to the small footprint that made the NEX-7 so exciting when it was first introduced.

Why not keeping the A6600 viewfinder (rangefinder style) instead of pop-up EVF?
I would like an a6600 viewfinder also. The pop up might be a mistake by Sony, or let's hope a misreport. I don't know why the pop-up would take any less internal space than the a6600 viewfinder.
But I do find myself using the rear lcd to focus more and more, especially with tracking AF. It seems to help me to see the image and with adjustments to composition.
Also, I think phone cameras have made using the lcd screen more and more of a default mode for many people.
