My Z9 and Z7II + 70-200 f2.8S has very, very minor rotational play, less than 1mm.

Same. I believe it’s normal and there are slight differences within manufacturing tolerances.

I think most of the lenses regardless whether F or Z mount have a little rotational play of that order.

My 50mm 1.8s has NO PLAY... hence my frustration. Thanks for the response!

Admittedly, my Z primes have basically no play either - I haven't tried every Z lens. However, looking at the electrical contacts, the very slight play would not disengage the contacts and therefore would not have any affect on IQ or anything.

I noticed more play in the F mount lenses than the Z mount lenses and they never caused issue either.
