Was the 24-70DGDN the lens that was replaced entirely?
My repaired lens arrived today; it looks great. As others have said, it has a new serial number but it's not an all new lens. (my front element had a minuscule flaw that is still there.)
But, I was quite surprised to find that they sent back the old parts which had been replaced. Perhaps because I had a lens skin applied to the lens and thought I might like it back.
In any case, looking at the old parts I can see the gaskets or 'cushions' that are obviously there to reduce dust infiltration. Can't see inside the repaired lens, but I'd bet these gaskets were improved on the new parts.
That's good to hear. I am sure sigma wouldn't want one of their best sold lenses to be having a bad rep of internal dust building up. It's great just how good this lens is once you go 40-70mm which I do often for landscapes

I really appreciate the detailed report! Quality posts like yours really help set FM apart from any other website.
I'll have to see when I can reach out to Sigma here and get mine fixed up. The change strikes me as a necessary fix.
After our recent vacations this issue seems to have gotten a lot worse for me; to the point where I see it in photos after f/5.6.
I made an appointment to drop it off here at Sigma Benelux to have it fixed for me. Free of charge
Edit: All done nice and easy. It'll probably be a couple weeks now of waiting. Interestingly enough they branded the lens on the service form as 'DG DN Art SE'.
