Another shot with the 35/2.5 Color-Skopar, LTM version, on Canon P, Fujicolor 200. I like this lens so much on film that I think I'll just keep it attached to the Canon P and use it like a fixed-lens Canonet.

M11 + Color-Skopar 35mm II
It is quite nice, light, compact, low priced and rigid lens for this focal length. And the f2.5 aperture isn't that dark. You can get appealing results with this. It does flare but in my opinion in most situations handles it pretty well.
There are lots of 35mm alternatives but basically all of them are bigger, heavier and pricier than this.
What this lens lacks is character. The rendering is fine but also quite boring. It doesn't have some sort of 'punch' to the images. I personally don't like aperture ring, it's a bit fiddly.

Once again, still loving this lens on film. Canon P, 35/2.5 Color-Skopar LTM, Fomapan 100.
It is indeed a characterless lens (in my opinion) but its rendering is so detailed and fine, with just the right amount of contrast. There's a kind of delicacy to it that I like in the images I make with it.

Fred, I'm curious as to why you settled on the Ulton over the Skopar. From your earlier posts you seemed to prefer the Skopar. What changed your mind?
Honestly, it was mainly because the Ultron was faster while still staying compact. But I still think the Color-Skopar is a great lens and definitely underrated, especially when you consider its size. The color-skopar also produces lower optical vignetting so specular highlights are more rounded off-axis. (less swirl)

The only downside I've found so far to this lens (I have the LTM version, never tried the M-mount version) is these ring flares, which I think come from the shiny chrome ring on the front of the lens or possibly the hood. I can't predict yet when they appear...they only show up in a few of my images but while I enjoy lens flare in general I can't say I like these.
Both of these images were shot on cloudy days, which makes it even more of a mystery.

It's not pretty flare. I have three silver rims (ZM 25/2.8 and 35/2 and ZF.2 APO-Sonnar 135) and haven't seen anything like that, but all three of them have black ringed filters on them.

I have shot relatively long and heavy lenses on my Leica lately, like Voigtländer Noktons in 35mm ja 50mm, and some Light Lens Lab 50mm's. By no means, they aren't big lenses compared to DSLR/mirrorless counterparts within f1.2 - f1.5 range, but compared to this 35mm Color-Skopar or my Brightin Star 28mm pancake, the latter two balances much better on Leica M than the first mentioned. If I have to carry my camera on my neck for a longer period of time, I'd choose a lens that doesn't tilt the camera forwards.
Though, my opinions about this lens hasn't changed. I'm still thinking it's pretty tactile and has decent image quality, but lacks character. Still, it is very good for everyday documenting purposes. It is small and light and easy to handle.
Still keeping it. I even might consider selling the 35mm Nokton because of its size and its purple fringing with large apertures. Haven't checked any Ultrons from Voigtländer line-up yet, I definitely should in some near future.
But here's a few 'everyday documenting' snaps from yesterday

I used this lens (the LTM version) extensively on film during a family reunion earlier this month; I was really happy with it as usual. A few examples:

I'm considering this one myself, as something compact for the Sigma fp (L). The fp samples from earlier in the thread aren't available anymore. Does anyone know if it performs as bad on Sigma sensors as it does on Sony?
Secondary question: the 35/3.5, 35/1.4 and 40/1.4 Voigtlanders also seem to be quite popular among Sigma users (particularly in Japan). Does anyone have any experience with any of these other combinations?
