Fair enough. I should have clarified that I am speaking strictly as a photographer. I rarely shoot video ... maybe once a year for a few seconds ... like videoing the blast-off in Bosque del Apache. I don't expect to shoot in 8K even once. So personally, I don't even need the video feature in my camera.

I agree about the taking the promo videos with a grain of salt—but some of the footage I saw (especially the 4K 120fps) convinced me their was alignment between specs and results. The R5 will make for an awesome B-Roll cam. Now add in the 8 stops of stabilization, better ergonomics, Canon colours, 45 MP stills, better menu system and that AF may not be quite to A9 performance isn't on the radar. What I do know is that AF performance will meet my needs and then some!

Yes i see your point.
I someone who has been shooting wedding for 10+ years.... including many Indian weddings.
While also providing editing service to photographers..... I have seen many files from just about everybody.
In some of the worst lighting. Or crazy lighting... over exposed and underexposed.
I am also an engineer with 15+ year working in cleanroom in the semiconductor world.
This is just me..... but worrying about noise at 1600 or 3200 is wasted time.
Files are fabulous at this ISO’s.
And shooting at these settings or any iso settings is more about content.
It is cool to talk about..... but looking at an image.... any image....
We don’t think to ourselves what iso or what camera body.... nope.
Anyway.... just saying.
Sorry.... technical talk is cool.... but worrying about iso messing up an image just very skewed thinking for me.

I could be wrong in this....
But from everything I see.... still shooter should be happy seeing video envelope being pushed.
Why.... this means the entire data path needs to be optimized, technology pushed to meet desired output.
Video work is more technically demanding than still shooting from a shear camera body perspective.
Just my 2 cents.....
Everybody be safe....
the last half of the year is going to be interesting for sure!!!!

There seems no end to reviews, depicting, and dedicated to the Video capability of the R5; most with relatively “short” focal length lens's .
I would like to see at least a few reviews dedicated entirely to stills of wildlife, BIF, Sports, & “Action” performance with" longer" telephoto lens's, both RF, & EF Adapted.
I don't have a problem that it can do outstanding Video, aside from a dedicated Video Camera; but from most of the reviews, one would think it was a Video camera, that, in a pinch, was also capable of doing stills.

Actually you jest, but if you look at the one video where they track dogs (in the post with the 3 videos), when the dog trots off, you can see the eye af lock onto the dog's butt and other parts. Too funny!

As a little disappointed in Canon these days. No black American photographer or Youtuber representation in 2020 is disheartening. There probably millions of black photographers men & women use the Canon product for many years. BTW its across the board. Sony,Nikon also

It looks like the other 2 eaglets are not happy with that stunt. The one on the left is a bit disgruntled, while the one on the right is yelling "MOM!".

Regarding photographers for Canon, I just care to see any content from any credible shooter no matter what their ethnic or cultural background is. Canon has a wide range of Explorers of Light across the globe. Perhaps Terrell Lloyd will be able to test the R5 during some sporting events in the future, provided we even have sporting events this year.

I hear that!
Outside of sports, some very active wildlife would be welcome as a test. Car racing is running, but only for a TV audience, it seems. Baseball, ditto - TV audience mostly. And not quite as much "start-to-finish" action as other sports, though it does have its moments.
