Sounds like Canon in the last 10 years!
Well, personally I'd rather just buy a mature camera that is well thought out, even if you have to wait. Versus basically being an unpaid sony beta product tester. A lot less costly in the long run for the consumer.

The Fro just released his production model R5/6 and other goodies unboxing. So now we know these units are in the states in some kind of numbers at lease!
He promptly got the fire extinguisher ready for the R5 unboxing.
And for all you 8K video guys take note at the 7:48 mark where he shows his new R5 Fan kit that's (not really) available.
Nothing against the real video guys and gals out there that understand what Canon has given us.
Just laughing more about Canon cripple hammer fan-club kids that enjoy talking smack about anything better than what they are shooting with.

Canon sent him all this gear this early so he can open it with a fire extinguisher beside him and a big fan during this review? I've watched his reviews and I don't mind them as he typically does an OK job but something just doesn't feel right.
If you owned a business or an executive of a corporation would you allow this? I sure wouldn't send him anything during pre-ordering with that level of mockery.

Canon EOS R5 animal eye AF
at 50 secs, with the bird takeoff, the AF is all over the place from eye to chest to tail to wing. Also the frame stutter you see looks terrible. I think canon made an outstanding camera for slow moving wildlife though. We'll see when we all tested it ourselves.

Well that is better than what any Canon DSLR can do. All the DSLRs would do is either track the general object with zone or you set the AF point and hope you are up to the task of keeping that AF point where it needs to be. Between having the proper DOF to keep the bird as a whole in the focal plane and the ability of the camera to try to find the eyes when available else go to a more general zone/object tracking, it won't be worse than any Canon DSLR, but better in many of the frames.

Jared's videos are entertaining and Canon knows he gets the attention. His extinguisher was a mockery of the people complaining about overheating not a mockery of Canon, especially if you know his previous videos on the subject. It's easy to draw the wrong conclusions without proper background knowledge.
Tony and Chelsea, on the other hand.... Canon wouldn't send them anything after their combined tirade about the overheating and how Canon never sent them preproduction models to evaluate. They sounded very bitter in their video.

I think during the Roller take off he has just spliced in the frames he recorded off an Atmos. Most of the other footage is played real time as one would see it through the EVF or LCD. But that take-off sequence was deliberately slowed down into the video I think. The AF losing the Roller's head is no big deal...Sony can't do any better than that on a takeoff and sometimes can't even keep it on the bird during a takeoff..
The low-light ability to see the lion and hyena was impressive.
Overall the Animal Eye-AF looks really well done.
However, when he was slowly panning with the lion and actively shooting right near the beginning (25s mark) I could see the frame insertion stutter in the ES mode. So it is going to be an issue to some degree. I've got to find a way to rent this camera and see for myself.
I do agree though that this AF will likely outperform any Canon DSLR that came before excepting the 1DXIII in LV. And having the Animal/Eye AF will certainly take it past even the 1DXIII for those subjects.

I tend to agree with you
I could get the Nikon z7 do the same thing while indeed it has terrible afc
Or at least there is not sufficient demonstration so far that the eye tracking of the Canon R5/R6 is superior

Wow, I think it is impressive, but maybe there are cameras doing better?
Also it might even follow better than you see the marker update in EVF, but have to wait for more real testing.
