I'm sure the R5 is a very good camera. IBIS looks really good. But for those thinking this will be a fast action / BIF beast, I'm not sure.
Someone posted this on the Canon board.
I am of course curious to see the real world application of these limits. Sometimes companies put language like this in their documentation to cover extreme examples and shooting conditions, but these are all SO specific that it feels like your standard Canon Cripple Hammer at work.
“Multiple outlets with inside information are reporting that Canon is holding back and/or delaying shipments of the new EOS R5 and EOS R6 cameras as a result of the overheating issues that early reviews have been reporting. This could be a sign that a recall is in the works.
While a recall might seem like a drastic step given how transparent Canon has been about the thermal limitations in the EOS R5 and EOS R6, both Canon Rumors and EOSHD are reporting that Canon is shipping far fewer units than expected, and has delayed the second allocation of cameras “significantly.”
One user who had an unrelated issue was told by Canon that the second allocation of EOS R5 cameras isn’t due until November—an unprecedented 4-month delay—while Andrew Reid at EOSHD was told that one of the largest photo retailers in Germany received only 5 units for their Berlin store, and 70 units total for the entire country, with similar reports from other major electronics chains.”

Explain to me how he's making an educated comparison when he can't open Canon RAWs in LR yet (his editor of choice).
I also noticed that some shots he was at f/8 comparing to f/2.8 and trying to make sharpness comparisons. Also some of his comparisons have exposures that don't match up and yet he is trying to push shadows to compare DR. Tony is turning into amateur hour these days (or was he ever on top of things?)

Careful, critical thinking like that might hurt the only 2 remaining brain cells of some internet commenters.

Thank you!

Thanks, @AlphaPhotography.
I haven't been able to shoot much with the new kit yet as I've been ridden like Sea Biscuit at work every day since I received it. In the very limited amount of time I have been hands on with the two RF lenses though, they seem to be really really good. I've mostly shot the zoom at 28mm and it has a surprising amount of micro contrast/pop to it. In the few snaps I've gotten throughout the range, it appears to be consistently sharp at all focal lengths. The 50/1.2 is also very sharp even wide open and reminds me a lot of the Sigma 35/1.2 in that way. The 50/1.2 and the zoom have a fairly similar look at 50mm with the few shots I have stopped down with the prime.
Hopefully, I'll be able to provide more useful feedback once I get some time to just shoot.

So Tony clarified some of that in comments.
Anything else?
Caught red-handed...if the conclusions are the same he should share the images...this is an ongoing trend for Tony....I think he should give up this gig before he becomes a bigger joke than he already is....

May be so, but they did post a live viewfinder feed of the R5 tracking and quickly losing a Bird in Flight, clearly showing a bad EVF lag issue. I would say a lot of what they are stating about this camera (R5) is very likely true

Tony Northrup (or whatever it is) has always been an amateur, appealing to other amateurs.
He's great at his job, which isn't offering great camera advice.

My understanding is Tony made millions doing what he does. Doubt he'll give up anytime soon. The more you watch...the more he makes...and with every camera or lens released...everyone watches.

Someone told me Youtube offered a feature to correct videos. Maybe Northrup should use that, if it's possible. A guy from Vancouver BC mentioned it when I got a hold on a Youtube video fro someone's employee using my image in a wrong context. They paid me $400 for the photo use, but also said their company could edit within Youtube. So they noted. But if the tool is available, Tony may try looking into it.

there's a lot of basics that Tony can and DOES provide. He has way too many WTF moments for me to take seriously.
