This is a really amazing set of images. The reflection shots are simply fantastic.
I am now heading home from 5 days in the badlands and five days in the tetons. While I saw 399, her cubs, and a few other bears, I never managed to produce anything that comes close to what you've done. Even though I was on the road by 4:30 am every day, most of my sightings were of distant bears, or some tighter "pedestrian" images... nothing I have comes close to what you've done here.
Bravo!

Final point... I hope that you hit the park before the crowds. During my visit, all but one bear sighting consisted of a crazy line-up of cars and photographers... this really made the experience anything but fun. Fortunately, I did manage to have one shoot with 399 where I was one of three photographers... a far more enjoyable experience for sure!

Thanks Bruce! I went there right after they opened the park for public and it wasn't that crowded then. I''m also not a big fan of photographing near big crowds. I was incredibly lucky few times, those reflections shots, and the other one 399 walking the cubs through the road in snow. That happened when I parked my truck little bit away from the usual crowd at Pilgrim creek for shot break from driving, but immediately I saw was 399 with four cubs right in front of my truck crossing the road and walking along the road just less than 10 feet from me! I really got panicked and my prime lens attached camera was to close and somehow got a shot with my backup camera. This place is definitely one of my favorite place when it's not too crowded, can't wait for my next trip.
Probably why I got lucky was, park opened after a 2 months of shut down and those animals were roaming freely everywhere and they continued to do so until they got scared/distracted by more vehicles as park opened, that's my guess. Hopefully you will get better shots next time.
