I've been trying to get this guy in the open for weeks now. It is an uncommon bird on Vancouver Island but a pair of them decided to nest at a local birding area. This morning I finally got some good looks at the male as he defended his territory from other birds. The female continues to weave her nest. Now that I got some mostly clear shots of the male my next goal is to get him in flight....till next time....
Wow great shots Geoff, I've never seen one before we had quite a few Baltimore. But we are not in the Bullock's flight path. #11 & 12 are really great looks. You sure have that 2 X singing.

Thanks Karl. Yes, I had to work in direct backlight a lot of the time. But in the end I sort of liked the backlit ones best. Just something a little different.
