The spring migration season this year got off to a slow start. There were hardly any species moving through Minnesota in April and I was getting worried that the birds had either flown right over us or had gone some place else altogether. Thankfully, the reason was that there were persistent North winds throughout April which prevented most birds from flying northwards. As May arrived, the winds became more favorable (South winds) and migrants started to appear and are continuing to move through this area. This year, in addition to the usual species, I was lucky to get a few more lifers (ie first time viewing). These are the warblers I photographed this year.
Frankly, I didn’t know that they are so many warbler varieties out there . And you did well capturing them, Amit! I enjoy the first 2 images out of this wonderful set.

Thanks, Joshua. Trying to get these warblers is intoxicating. I got only about 75% of the ones I saw and I must have seen only 70% of what others saw/reported.

Thanks, Karl. As you rightly said, it is not easy to get these unless maybe you go to Magee Marsh. Had to walk many miles in many different nature parks and be patient enough for them to come low enough to get a decent shot.
