The e-mount won’t be smaller and lighter.

And you won’t be able to use a close focus helicoid adapter. And e-mount’s tend to be priced higher for the same lens.

I think that you aren't wasting money if you can use it in your other cameras when you have two systems. 35 in the a7 and approx 50 in fuji cameras or 35 in the Z.

Ha, yes!

These are made for Leica M and other adaptable mirrorless cams such as Fuji, Nikon Z Canon R etc.

Cosina make dedicated lenses for Sony E mount. Wait for them if you are Sony user.

Still more compact than what Sony churns out and the Sigma monstrosities!

Looking forward to a thin-sensor comparison with the 35/1.4ZM. That lens is truly the gold standard for me.

No kidding. I'm very much looking forward to the David and Goliath showdown: CV 35/1.2 III vs. Sigma DN 35/1.2.

An E vsn should be around 70mm x 65mm, and 440 grams (58mm filters), scaling similar to the E-mount 40/50 f1.2 and retaining the fast character lens sub-group's look and feel. Still close to the idealised street/travel threshold of 1000 grams camera and lens.

Here are the specs on the 40's and the 50's

weight

40
VM - 315g; E mount - 420g

50
VM - 344g; E mount - 434g

35
VM - 322g - my guess is E mount will be 425g

Length

40
VM - 43.3mm; E mount - 59.3mm

50
VM - 49mm; E mount - 58.8mm

35
VM - 50.5mm; my guess is E mount will be 60.5mm

Diameter - both the 40 f/1.2 and 50 f/1.2 have a 70.1mm max diameter. I have got to assume the 35 f/1.2 E mount if it gets built will have the same diameter.

Filter size - both the 40 f/1.2 and 50 f/1.2 have a 58mm filter thread. I have got to assume the 35 f/1.2 E mount if it gets built will have the same filter thread size.

So, I basically agree with Phillip, but my best guess is that if an E mount 35 f/1.2 get built (and do expect it to get built) it will be just a little smaller than Phillip suggests with a length closer to 60mm than 65mm and a weight closer to 425g than 440g.

I wonder how this new version will behave compared to the current version (on FE bodies). There will be 3 options for me:
- cheapper v.II with AF adapter
- v. III with the AF adapter
- FE version with exif and no AF (if they will release it).

It looks like they were shot in Portugal.

That's what I'm hoping for. No more non- native lenses for me

Yep. But aren't there any photographers in that country?

The samples were not that bad.
I just got an update from CameraQuest and should get a loan for review soon.

Not that bad is a very low bar for photographs that should indicate the presumably excellent qualities of a lens.

It is common for new, unreleased lenses to be poorly represented in marketing materials.

Strange but true.
