Rob and Amy: thanks for the quick reply. Very impressive results from the video frames.
Really shows the potential to use video to sometimes obtain great stills. I can only imagine using the 8K video from the upcoming EOS R5 to extract stills. I've seen a few samples where people took stills from the video from a RED 8K Helium camera and they looked incredible.
Once again, your work always shines and thanks for sharing your expertise.
I shot some Northern Rough-winged Swallows that were zooming over a stream this morning. It was dark. I shot them with my 1DX3 and 600III. f/4, 1/2000, ISO 3200. I had to bump exposure in post-processing a bit. I was very happy with the performance. I ended up shooting in tracking mode with user selected initial focus point. I'm going to try some more shooting with center point with expanded points. These images are about 6-8 megapixels after crop.
anyone with the 1Dx3 that is using version 1 super teles ??
any issues using version 1 super teles on this body. Specifically 500 F4's and 300 F/2.8's ??
Thanks for any reports
I'm using it with a 300mm f/2.8 IS. No issues of any kind, but the 1dX MkIII just made it better.
One interesting change. The 1Dx MkII underexposed Zeiss Otus lenses by about two stops. The 1Dx worked fine with them and so does the 1Dx III. Zeiss had a firmware fix but I never had it done. Vancouver to New York wasn't a shipping adventure I wanted to try.
I wish I could use my 2x MkIII with my 1Dx MkIII, but MA >20 with the 600 MkII Rats!. I just haven't managed to part with the three and send them to CPS in Ontario. I'm not even sure if CPS is open during Covid-19.
I'm a sucker for ground level shots! Also... I'm still having issues with my 600III and vibration around 1/160 to 1/200 with the 1DX3. I referenced it in another post, but it does persist. It's not every shot that is bad, but most are.
A few shots from today. Connecticut Warbler, Mourning Warbler, and Scarlet Tanager. Very glad to have gotten them! All at 840mm. I find that I'm cropping a lot of photos down to about 6 megapixels from the original 20. I with I had about 50% more pixels.
Nice set Pius. I like the owl shots. The last one has a nice 'pop' to it.
One nitpick, the 4th shot is not sharp on the bird (on a large screen) and takes away from the set a bit.
Thanks for sharing.
Set the Canon connect app and grabbed this shot. There is some lag but it works very well overall. I used my phone mounted on the hot shoe as a monitor.

Nothing as exciting as the other photos, but I took a photo of Rocky, our golden retriever.
I really like the shutter sound, the human interfaces, touch screen, built in WiFi. I will have to get some more photos, but this will do it for now. Working on putting my 1Dx II up for sale.
