Yippee, I will be getting a 1dx Mark III to try out hopefully this coming Friday 1/31. Weather may not be in my favor but it will be fun to try this bad boy out . Not sure if I can open raws but jpegs are fine for the brief testing. I will definitely report in when I can
Be sure to save both - you can work on the RAWS at a later time.

Enjoy Nikon then, looks like you made the right switch for you. Not sure what your post adds here. Everything goes up, the A9 II
Good point. If they like Nikon, no problem. Otherwise, jabybird555's post makes no sense. The new Canon fits the need of many others.
The 1DX mk iii doesn't fit my need closely, but if I was a rich guy with that much extra, I'd gladly enjoy one. So far, the depreciation has seemed very slow on the 1DX bodies considering the use they get.
Precautions when using the smart controller In case of poor responsiveness if you are wearing gloves, use this control without wearing the gloves. The camera may not respond to touch operations with wet fingers.

No interesting images to make on cold rainy days so, what's the point?
Pius and I haven't seen a non rainy day in what feels like years...we know how to take images in pouring rain...
As per cold...I've shot most of my best images in sub-zero temps...I love shooting in the cold. Used to go out at -35C and shoot frosty ducks along the Yukon river and a lot else.

Not an option for cold or rainy days...
This is certainly in the manual to be cautious and cover Canon's butt for the inevitable 'tube video of someone using the camera in some insane manner where the controller or another touch function fails to work normally.
The first thing I did when handed the camera for a quick demo (inside) was put on a black synthetic fabric glove I would typically use while shooting in the cold, and I had zero problems with the controller. Given the circumstances I couldn't test it with wet hands, so it will be interesting to hear back from others about such use cases. 'Touch operations' is pretty broad, so do they mean the controller, touch display, or both? Having sometimes used my phone with a wet screen, I've more than once experienced erratic responsiveness, so it wouldn't be surprising for the camera's display to behave similarly in such conditions.
Not saying it's going to be perfect, but I wouldn't read too much into those sentences.

I think it will have the most issues if it is wet or frosty. As you've already tested, gloves should work fine. But just like my smartphone, if the screen is wet the touch is wonky or doesn't register. However, the size of the sensor is really small so should be easy to give a quick wipe and dry it if needed.

Works great with gloves on. The sensitivity control also works when using gloves. I had thinner gloves on but no issues at all.
