"We would like to share a development update on the Light Lens Lab black-and-white film project and our preparations for future feedback from reviewers, testers, laboratories, and retailers.
Since our previous update in September 2025, we have continued development on our first in-house black-and-white film production line. From May to June 2026, we moved the film project production line to our lens project laboratory in Shangrao and renovated both the lens and film production facilities to integrate lens assembly and film production into a single in-house environment.
This renovation also included preparing a second clean room dedicated to the film project. As a result, lens production was temporarily delayed during the transition, but has now resumed at maximum capacity.
Our current development includes testing dedicated production machinery, including an emulsion coating machine, a master roll splicer, a 135-format hole puncher, a packaging assembly workflow, an edge-marking process, backing paper, spools, canisters, and additional film-production components."
I enjoy finding and buying Japanese replicas of Leica lenses from 1950s and others. But all of these lenses were made under license from Leica or Zeiss after World War II. Sometimes they're better than the originals at a tenth the price, and sometimes they're not What I don't like about LLL products is the service, and warranty coverage in Europe or the US, or even an official LLL address or the lack of a registered LLL trademark. If LLL fixed this, it would be better for everyone. But that's just my personal opinion.
