That looks promising. Rumours about it being EVF-less were disappointing. I'm glad they were wrong. Just hoping Nikon will have it in their hearts to build one or two DX primes for it. I do find the bottom-flipping LCD screen a bit odd but still looking forward to the announcement.

Looks super-thin, and a surprising lack of buttons on the back. Just one unconfirmed ad but they're certainly targeting the travel and vlogging market, which makes sense.

These are only rumours, but it looks like Nikon are pitching the right camera with the right features for these markets:; lighter and compact considering it's Z-mount; the rotating as well as tilting screen....

And hopefully the wifi interface is fully nifty to move images to a phone asap!

Again, on the assumption this info is correct, this Z-entry subsystem should sell well :-)

Looks really cool, be nice as a travel cam with the f/4 zooms. The front dial alone makes it a tempting upgrade from the D5600.

Seems there will likely be a lower featured Z30 with fewer buttons and no raised viewfinder, judging from the patent diagrams that came out a little while back.

I wonder if there will be a higher spec Z70 in the same body size but with a few extras like function buttons on the front? Or might the top DX be a Z5 in the larger Z6/7 body, more 'pro' and compatible with all the 6 & 7 gear and accessories? Either would be nice, but I think I'd like a Z5

Z5 will likely be an RP competitor with FF sensor but maybe in this Z50 body? That would make sense to me.

Z70 might come along and be more like D500 class even in the Z6/7 body style.

But I'd bet we see my version of the Z5 before ever seeing a Z70 as I've described.

Well, that "flip" screen is nice but it's going to be pointless if you have a tripod.

This Z50 is 100% aimed at vloggers/travelers and competes directly with the A6400, especially if the price is accurate (pretty much $1,000 for the body and kit lens combo). The price is nearly identical. As for specs, I think for 95% of the people that will be 'sold' into buying it, it will be perfectly fine. For the much more experienced, this is still a decent camera but I'm betting it won't be performing as well as the D500. I feel like the D500 will definitely still have the upper hand.

Either way, FINALLY... Nikon's first DX mirrorless camera. When I went to Japan and South Korea 3 years ago, I wished Nikon made one and now, 3 years later, here it is!

I'd be pretty interested in that Z5 for times I didn't need IBIS. I'm among the crowd that doesn't like the trend towards larger and larger mirrorless bodies as the only option...

Also, I know people were complaining about the D500 sensor, but makes total sense now and makes for a great consumer camera.

From Nokishita

Looks like a slick little camera that probably blows away Sony A6XXX series ergonomics...but likely doesn't blow away a6XXX autofocus.

The lens mount looks ginormous with that tiny kit lens

Interesting to see touch buttons instead of physical on the side of the screen.

Weren't the earlier rumors saying no view finder? I wonder how many of the other rumors were wrong?

Yes because there were some patents showing a basic camera design without EVF. However, someone said that those patents weren't even for the body design (the design was just a generic camera outline) so no surprise that shape didn't come out in an actual product.

Pity about poverty of control buttons - AF-On especially... False economy embodied

But they could have culled off even more...

Is the back screen 3" or 3.2", it's hard to say?
It looks huge, but camera is so small.

Press photos leaked, the actual display is smaller than the entire tilting structure. There are touch buttons next to the display on the same panel.

Great to see the handgrip size. I've never understood why ILC's would have grips thinner than the projection of the kit lens mounted on the body. No IBIS is probably OK for the target market since the two kit lenses have VR.

My previous Oly E-PL(something) had a screen that flipped all the way down like the Z50, but it could also tip up to about 80 degrees if my memory is correct, so still useful on a tripod or shooting with the camera down low. Good to see Nikon competing here.

The touch-controls on the side of the screen make sense if the screen swivels all the way down as shown in earlier leaked press photos. Will allow someone to self-vlog and have controls to push without having to get behind the camera.

Made another myself to better see the difference in volume. Hard to judge when the mount is aligned and it's a small difference in each direction.
