HI All. hope you did not have too much of Ecuador. I'm not even half way done yet (Geoff - plz keep the count , there are some repeats)
One of the mistakes I made was not carrying the flash, since I believe a little bit of fill flash would have given me more keeper and probably would have made the pictures pop a bit. On the flip side, not having the flash, using low ISO (to the extent possible) and low light, gave the pictures a real rain forest/cloud forest type of look.
Please provide C&C so I can learn
PS Some of the pics are presented only for the species count (not for IQ)

Quite a few could use there shadows lifted a bit. 2 and 3 are good examples of this. Way too many images to properly critique. Yes fill flash would have helped avoid this issue. Variety and sharpness is great. I love the play of light in the first and it's my pick.

KD, I would have called it not only image heavy but superb image heavy. It took me a while to view them because they are truly superb and I took my time doing that. Your images did reinforce my planned trip to Ecuador in late October/early November.
I love the KF in #8, the lighting and rain drops in #14, the stacked composition in #24 and of course, the various and exotic HB and variants in several images. YGM big V!

It will take me a bit of time to go back and check for duplicates but I'm on it
I really enjoyed this set KD. I liked the dark mood throughout and I don't think raising the shadows anymore will improve these as all it will do is bring in noise to the backgrounds and darker parts of the subject. I think the way you kept them on the dark side and still made the colours pop make for good looking images. As you say they have the rainforest mood.
My top pick is #14 with the light of the landing Shiny sunbeam. An aptly named bird for this shot with the way the light is hitting it and its wings. Do you have one with the wings in back position during this landing sequence?
I also was attracted to the light in the flame-rumped tanager shot. Why did the name change? Lemon seems more fitting or is this a female and the male is orange? I guess I can answer that myself with the Google
The Kingfisher and VT Sylph were also standouts with the way their colours stood out from the darker mood.
My question is why the composition for the Mosback Tanager? Sort of breaking the rules for having it looking out of the frame instead of in. I also like the light on this one a lot. Just curious with the crop/composition choice.

KD...........you sure overcame some challenging light and contrasty subjects my friend
#1 is tops for me, so very natural, a perfect portrayal of the scene in my eyes
There are many to appreciate, there are a few that one could spend time doing a bit more lifting of shadows perhaps. There are some that really have the 'wow' factor for pattern and color and detail too
#21 is very dynamic! That is one crazy cool pose!

KD, you are churning out hit after hit!!! Another superb set.
The squirrel monkey in #1 is perfect for the way the light illuminates it.
The sunbittern is also fantastic with its spread-out wings. The Greater-billed Ani is also top-notch.

KD another amazing set and a teaser for my planning :-) Fantastic set man. I usually go up to ISO 6400 on my 5D MkIV and 8000 in extreme cases with the 1Dx (mkII also). Could you have gone Auto ISO with these settings and done a +1/3 to +1 EV Comp?
