Got my A7R IV on Friday and Saturday I went to Dolly Sods Wilderness & Canaan Valley - West Virginia. I didn't expect to be wow'd by the camera as I still love my A7R II. But, boy I was wrong. A7R IV felt like a beast. Everything about it felt super fast. Most of all, I love that shutter sound :-).

10 star GBH's Ruhikant. Between you and Mark Smith I have to wonder about Mark Galer. Why would he (me paraphrasing) say avoid the Riv for BIF ?? Matters not really; we know other wise.
I have a new found respect to all those who shoot BIF. I was at the circus this past weekend and I had a tough time keeping my images sharp with the aerialists. I'm thinking birds move "slightly" faster - plus, I was only using a 50mm.

Basically first day with it...shot just for 1/2 hr over lunch break. Need to test a lot more before deciding if I will keep it.
I certainly don't mind the blackout and slideshow at 8 and 10FPS for perched birds. But haven't tried on BIF yet...hopefully this weekend if the weather cooperates.
Certainly shooting in crop mode is the way to go whenever it makes sense as otherwise the writing to card takes forever and even scrolling through images in playback is like molasses I wish you could switch out of crop mode while it is writing to card because that screwed me up a few times when I was in crop mode for the juncos and chickadees and then needed a wider view for the jays...of course I could just zoom back

Interesting report - I wondered if a new high speed special card was going to be needed if this body is to be pushed to be used in situations where speed is also a requirement.
