I wish the 200-600 combination worked better because who has $13k laying around for a Sony 600 f/4? Hadn't heard the 200-600 doesn't pair well with the A7R IV. I picked up an A7R IV this week and did notice that with the 1.4 connected shooting in the crop mode (1260mm) will require higher shutter speeds. What I did was removed the 1.4 and with the cropping leeway achieved great results.
Had a special shoot today with both the Canon 500 mm is ii + 1.4x iii tc and the Sony 200-600. Noticed something very peculiar which I realized later while viewing the images in Son’s exif/af point reader. The Canon lens’ images had af points exactly where they were intended and where I remembered the point to be whereas with the Sony lens, the active af point was frequently off target. I’m really beginning to believe that there is something funky with a7riv and 200-600 combination as this doesn’t occur with the 100-400 or any non native lens.
Alcatraz - Panorama out of two photos - The amount of detail in the original file is impressive.
