For you if you're curious about looks and sizes of them. To me, S-line primes are almost identical in appearance and shape. I accidentally turned off my Fuji 18-55 lens so the picture was blurry. This is why having IBIS is a huge advantage for persons like me.
Nikon really went minimalist on the Z lenses. If we compare to the G lenses of F mount, the Z's just look almost nude. It's great that they make up for the lack of form with what seems to be great function.

I agree- Nikon went with simplicity and I like it. But somehow I miss a gold ring and I wish the "Nikkor S" was in Gold color rather than in silver. Probably Nikon wanted to distinguish S line with G line.
But if you want to drive attention to your camera, there are way more effective things than a gold ring.

Can you guy post where did you purchased the 85mm lens. I'm ready to buy one I have already sold my Sigma 85mm f/1.4 art and I want to replace it with this one do to size weight and being native for my Nikon Z6 & Z7.
I have place preorder with Adorama on Sep 1st but it's still on backorder so maybe small local store would be a better luck.

I pre-ordered from B&H right after preorder became available. I received the lens 10 days ago. I think it takes a while for this lens become in-stock. I like it even more than 50 1.8S. Good luck looking.

Purchased mine from Murphy’s Camera in KY. Give them a call, always a chance they have one they’d be willing to ship to you. They didn’t have any pre-ordered for it so I’m not sure how popular the Z-mount is around these parts.

I can't say about the 85 in particular but I've had good luck with ASAP Photo in Greenville NC. They're a small market and frequently have stock of the hard to find Tamron zooms for Sony when they were released. Worth a call anyway, and they will ship to you.

I preordered from Midwest Photo and they shipped it to me on launch day.
And a few more wide open. This lens on the Z6 is a lovely combo to take out for whatever. It would be nice if the minimum focus distance was a few inches shorter, but that's just me nitpicking and obviously this isn't meant for close-up use. I will say that manual focusing at 2 X zoom through the viewfinder works very well and with a little familiarity the fly-by-wire system becomes quite predictable and easy to make fine adjustments as well as small quick jumps.
This lens looks amazing! I'm tempted to swap out my 50 for the 85 S, but the 50 is so good and so cheap used (I got mine for $450) that it prob makes sense to keep both

Thank you! Currently have the 14-30 f4 and 50 1.8 for the Z7 and a D850 with the 28 1.4, 58 1.4 and 105 1.4 as well as the 70-200 f2.8E. It all plays exceptionally well with each other. I love taking portraits with the 70-200 or 105, but there's something about 85mm that feels just perfect for a mid-chest framed portrait. Flattering while still feeling intimate.
Long shot but maybe I’ll get lucky. Want to consolidate a few filter threads and 62mm is the best size, with the 85’s 67 being the only outlier. anyone with the 85 have a 67-62 step down ring and could comment on vignette? I don’t have the lens yet but plan to add it. Thanks regardless.
