I am currently in the Italian Dolomites on holiday with my Wife. Fortunately she allows me some time for photography. I have a nice set of primes with me, but is seems the Sony 24-105mm is getting the most use. As much because it is on the camera most of the time as we are exploring around. The focal range seems to fit the environment just right. I think the ability to frame accurately eliminates the need for cropping, often makes up for the lower, but in my opinion still excellent IQ in comparison to primes.
Thanks for the compliment. The Dolomites are the perfect location to show the flexibility, and great IQ of this lens. many more images from this trip to come.
Lake Bled in Fall colors on a misty morning. The zoom capabilities of lenses like Sony 24-105mm makes framing shots like these much easier than using a prime. IQ is clearly not an issue with this lens.
I highly recommend a trip to Slovenia. A beautiful country, with incredible scenery, and friendly people. It should be on everyone's list of places to see. I am currently in the nice port city of Portoroz, resting in the amazing Kempinski Palace hotel after two weeks of hard touring, and up for sunrise photography. My Wife will spend two days in the Spa, it is her Birthday, and she has earned some spoiling after putting up with my photography hobby. Something for everyone here in Slovenia.
Hi all. As a new member who is considering changing from a Tamron 28-75 to the Sony 24-105 for a more all-on-one hiking lens, this thread is conclusive evidence for me. More than that, it's a wonderful thread for fantastic photography which just happens to use the same lens. The standard is so high with so many beautiful pictures. I hope to be able to contribute to it myself in some small way before too long.

If you migrate lenses, I hope you enjoy the Sony, and I think you will. Many find the rendering of the Tamron a bit harsh and busy, and the Sony has plenty of bokeh to give you under the right conditions.
I have such a huge backlog of images that I should keep this thread active for a while
