Not much snow here this year. I am one of those nuts who actually LIKES snow. This is the best I could do. Sony A7RIV, 24~105mm lens at 35mm ISO 200, f11 at 1/250 sec. Image changed to 4:3 format.

Thanks for looking.

AHL - Henderson Silver Knights - media day portraits. Godox strobes - a7riv with 24-105 f4 G. this was my first real commercial shoot since switching to Sony, and i must say it made the shoot very smooth, as there was a lot of movement with the players skating on the ice. for the first time in a long time, i didnt feel like i was fighting the camera, but rather being able to direct my subject and not worry about if the camera would nail focus or not. It was quite the eye opening experience.

Looks like a nice landscape that didn't need artificial looking snowy artifacts photo-shopped onto it. Did you miss the time it actually snowed?

Some people like to see the setup for these. 4 light setup. background in a 34" octa, key light is a 60" deep parabolic umbrella with ad600, two 20x48" kickers and black cards for shadow.

Amazing images!

Curious - why did a professional sports photographer choose the Sony 24-105 f/4 as his lens of choice for these images?

I tend to think of the 24-105 as being a good lens for no or slow movement, not really an action lens. But the hockey images you took clearly show my presumption to be wrong! I guess the lights help quite a bit

quite honestly because it was the only lens i had at the time that would work. i was in the middle of testing out Sony, to see if i wanted to switch , i only had the a7riv and 24-105G and 16-35 2.8 that i had received in a trade. So it was a sink or swim situation for Sony and myself. I need to make sure my stuff works on a real job before going all in. I had my nikon Z stuff in a pelican case just in case. Also i often liked using the 24-120 on commercial jobs such as this, so i dont have to swap lenses; im shooting stopped down and strobed, so wide open sharpness doesnt really matter. though i gotta say the sony 24-105 blows the nikon 24-120 out of the water in every aspect. Since then ive sold 80% of my nikon gear and have acquired the canon 15 fish, 24-70 2.8GM, 70-200 2.8Gm, 85 1.4GM, 90 Macro, and 400 2.8GM . just need the 135 f2, and ill be done.

Great shots. I was a photographer at the 2011 NCAA wrestling championships when Bubba stuck Dave Taylor who was then considered the potential favorite to win 4 straight championships and go undefeated.

24-105 with its excellent magnification works very well for ad-hoc quasi-macro situations, like this one.
Walking down the beach found some miniature life crawling around.

Playing with rolling car photography genre.
Took my A9 with 24-105 on it, attached it to the monopod with securing strap around my wrist, connected the remote control to it and we went for a ride.
Shooting at 1/60th with fluctuating aperture and ISO. High burst as driving at 80kph and sticking my camera on a monopod out close to the street beneath does not offer too much stability. I got a few sharp shots out ok after all.

I love this lens, it takes great pictures and has accompanied me on some great trips. I'm considering selling it since I also have the Tamron 28-200 now. Sonyalpha.blog rates the Sony better than the Tamron on the A7R IV sensor, but the difference is fairly small on the A7R II/III sensors.

Here are some of my favorite shots taken with this lens over the last year:

Those are great. I'd personally never trade the 24mm wide end for 28mm since 24 can even be a bit too tight sometimes. The R4 has enough cropability to make up for "only" 105mm on the long end.

Here's a shot from a trip through Salmon Arm, British Columbia last year. We stayed at a hotel that looked out on this view, as the sun set.

A7RIII, FE 24-105, tripod.
