Is this even available yet? I see it listed on Haida's site, but neither B&H nor Adorama have it...just the one for the DSLR version.

Hi Jordan,

Amazon has it listed:

Rich, that's just the filter holder...what I don't see for sale is the mount to the E-mount 14-24. They have the DSLR 14-24 mount, but that lens is significantly larger than the E-mount version.

Hi Jordan,

OK. 2filter.com has it listed for the Sigma 12-24 for E-mount for $210.

Thanks. Still leaning towards the Nisi (the filter holder is notably less expensive). But I'd be interested in differences in the filters themselves.

And maybe Snapsy can report back about his experience with sending it to Sigma service.

Unfortunately the service didn't go well. I sent my copy in to CRIS in Arizona. They didn't have the tools/capability to adjust the lens so they forwarded it to Sigma USA in NY. After about a month they received the lens back from Sigma saying no problem found. CRIS sent the lens back to Sigma USA, including both my photos and their photos, both of which demonstrated the issue. After another month Sigma USA decided to replace the lens, which I just received yesterday. My original copy was perfect up to about 22mm, where it was noticeably tilted, evening out at around f/5.6. The new copy is tilted at 14mm, a more critical focal length for the lens, and doesn't even out until around f/8. The new copy is tilted at 22mm as well but to a lesser degree. So after a full two-month wait I now have a copy worse than my original.

I just wrote CRIS asking they request Sigma to either send another new copy, or my original copy back. It appears to me Sigma USA doesn't have the equipment or capability to adjust tilt issues on their lenses, so the only two outcomes are either to state the lens has no issue or to replace it with another copy.

Got to really shoot with the lens today...it truly is a collection of outstanding wide primes in one lens. I'm seeing essentially Loxia level performance throughout the range, which is just remarkable to me. If I was still debating, that debate is over...I'll be keeping this lens.

And as a bonus, with less CA and field curvature
Only against the light can it not compete with the Loxia's unsurpassed flare performance. But it's superb for an UWA zoom in that regard too.

I know I keep gushing about this lens, but this is remarkable to me. The shot below isn't anything special content wise, but it was taken at 14mm, wide open at f/2.8, on a 60 megapixel sensor at fairly close focusing distance, where it really isn't at its peak...

http://www.jordansteele.com/2020/sigma_14mm_close.jpg

and this is what 100% near the corner looks like at 60 megapixels at 14mm, f/2.8....simply remarkable to me:

After getting the 14-24/2.8 a while back, I sold all my primes in the range except from the Loxia 21. The Loxia is not much better but I love it too much to sell it. (sunstars, compactness)
I don't think there is a 14-16mm lens performing better than this. Outstanding resolution, contrast, color rendering and CA suppression.

Nice work! The best examples I have seen. No love for that sunstar though.

What is the current state of rear filters for the Sigma 14-24/2.8?

What is the best front filter setup for this lens and how much bulk does that add to the package?

I love the images from this lens, but the Sony 16-35 f/2.8 GM and its 82mm threads make for much easier filter use. I know that there are a lot of photographers, like me, who don't want to go with the big front filter holder kits but otherwise see the Sigma 14-24 as nearly perfect.

Haida and Nisi 150mm filters for the front. I've got my Nisi S5 coming tomorrow, so I'll let you know. It definitely isn't small, and will require carrying an extra little bag when I need it.

However, I was willing to make the trade when I realized I pretty much only use polarizers on ultra-wides when shooting in forests/gorges/waterfalls, etc, and when I shoot those things, I'm out with a full kit anyway, on a tripod, etc, so the extra little bit of stuff won't be an issue in those situations.

Rear filters there are a handful of specifically made sets available, but I'm likely waiting for the Aurora filters to release, which should be fairly soon.

Nisi now have a front cap for the S5 system, and you can use any 100mm cap for the rear of the 14-24 adapter. So if you only need a round S5 filter you can put the filter in the adapter and use the caps to protect the glass. That way you have a pretty compact and quick-to-use 150mm system that might fit in a side pocket somewhere depending on your pack/bag.

That is why I stuck with my 14-24mm although it not centered at 24mm f2.8. 14mm f2.8 is much more impt as it has useable dof.

I know it would be expensive, but I could probably get by with a polarizer, and 2 dark polarizers (like a 3'ish stop and 6'ish stop.) I'm curious to see how the Aurora filters work though.

So, my Nisi S5 came in, and despite the overall size, which really can't be avoided, I'm very impressed. The adapter fits perfectly over the hood and slides right into the hood notches to align it: a quick twist of the locking ring and it's set nice and snug around the hood with no markings. Stays on tight, works beautifully, and the geared wheels turn the polarizer nicely. I may not ever use the square holder that comes with it, but if I do choose to get some square NDs, that holder pops on and off with ease and securely locks and rotates as well.

It's lighter than I expected, though I don't think I'd ever walk around with this for any extended period of time anyway...it'll be for almost exclusively tripod mounted work. Very pleased.

It is big though...a few snaps with my phone of the setup:

Btw my fotodiox wonder pana for the Sony 12-24 almost works. The filter itself like the CPL is fine . The holder needs a adjustment but I imagine that maybe there going to make a specific holder for it. I have the whole rig for sale now but wondering if I should keep it. I’ll probably never sell this lens. I do like the Nisi though. We have a link for that one specfically

I also own a Wonderpana kit for my Canon TS-E 17mm and would love to know if / when Fotodiox will offer an holder for the Sigma 14-24mm ... I'm currently torn between this lens and the Tamron 17-28mm and having such an adapter would tip the scales in favor of the Sigma

Does anyone in this forum know anything about their plans?

Fotodiox will likely released theirs soon.

Haida already has a front filter adapter fro the Sigma 14-24/2.8 DG DN:
https://www.2filter.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/haida-m15-filter-holder-kit-for-simga-14-24mm-f2.8-dg-dn-art-lens-for-sony-e.html

As far as rear slot ND filters, Aurora will likely release their magnetic system in March.
