Around this time of year, the Rufous Hummingbirds arrive on Vancouver Island from Mexico for the breeding season, and it is generally the males who arrive first. Here's one I photographed today in my back yard.
They are a feisty bird, so now the resident Anna's hummingbirds have to put up with being harassed by the Rufous.
They will be here until approximately July, at which time they head south again.

Colin, you are a master! Absolutely love the lighting in all your shots. Which camera body is this with?
You and Geoff are making me want to visit Vancouver Island.

Thanks Bryan. I shot this with the a9 with the 1.4 extender, hand-held. I think I had the shutter speed set to 1/800, wide open of course, and auto ISO.
Arrived at one of our local haunts early this morning only to find this majestic Bald Eagle in a tree beside the road just as the sun was cresting the horizon!
The 2X extender was on the a9, so left it on and got out of the vehicle and shot (hand-held) as I approached, getting closer and closer.
The AF performance of the A1 is for sure superb. But I also enjoy the resolution and cropping capability of the sensor. Here is a flycatcher, one of the first images I took with this camera. I posted a similar image somewhere else but I just edited this image using my usual workflow, which was not available until today after LR could finally open files from this camera.
Flycatcher, basking in low setting sun - quite heavy crop
