I’d say AF was fine, sharpness still really good. Bokeh and CA seems okay with the 2-6. I used the 2-6 also later in the morning and owl was on different perches/backgrounds so maybe hard to compare. Here are a couple shots: https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1608204/106#15254262
Also most of the shots above were at f/11 and that was just to prove a point over in the Canon forums where we are discussing the usefulness of an 800 f/11 lens that Canon is releasing in July.

How would 200-600 fare in the same situation (AF, bokeh, sharpness, CA)?
Hi, I was lucky enough to score a used 600gm at B & H In perfect condition
I am waiting for my Rolanpro lens cover to arrive from AliExpress in a few weeks but I did not order the front cover.
Wondering if the Sony front lens cover would fit with the RolanPro hood cover installed?
Thank you!

Congrats! I believe it would fit just fine. However, I would recommend you getting a shorter lens hood AND a lens cap from Jon here on the forum. He makes them using his 3-D printer. He posted a thread here about that: https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1638502/0. Enjoy your new lens and welcome to the club!
I wondered who got that used 600mm from bhphoto. I was thinking of snapping it up and then it was gone. I went back to bhphoto for days hoping it would reappear. I have since ordered the lens for early july.

Thank you AGeoJo. I will definitely check out the short lens hood. I only wish to get shots as good as your work displayed here
LarryChen. I’m still trying to convince my wife $10,400 was a bargain but she’s not hearing any of it. No regrets so far on the purchase
Thank you but actually, as you can tell/see, all contributors to this thread are great!
The short lens hood makes handling of that lens under windy conditions or from tight space, like inside your car more manageable. I store the lens with the short lens hood in the shooting position inside my bag. I don't even bother taking it on and off. Some folks here added a rubber bumper on the front edge, making it look more refined. Maybe you can even order that from Jon with that. I added that later to mine. Keep in mind though that if you shooting against the sun or a strong light source you may get some lens flares with the shorter hood.
The lens cap works well, too. Basically, I put the original lens hood and cap back in the original case and I haven't touched it in the last 2 months or so.
From my favorite peregrine falcon site last Saturday... the crust on their beak is actually blood coming from their "breakfast" (image is crossposted).

How does one know if an image was upsampled or downsampled or cropped?
Not sure how you would know that. If someone posts from a Flickr link and has their Flickr sharing setup to show all sizes then you can go to View All Sizes and it will show you the full resolution of the uploaded file. Then you know how much it is cropped.
I can say that every image I post is 1) cropped and 2) downsized to 1400 wide. I don't think I've ever taken a bird image that I haven't cropped at least a little and most times I crop them a lot
If you go to my Flickr and click all sizes you can see what the full-res size is and that will tell you how big of a crop if you compare that to the camera I used and its FF resolution. On Flickr you can view my images up to 6K but if they are bigger than 6K you can't view the full res. If they are smaller than 6K you will only get smaller options to view.
