Caved in and got the A9II, a few shots from the first outing tonight. The bluebirds and tree swallows are uneasy neighbors in some boxes in our back yard.

Thanks! The faster AF and bigger buffer on the A9II is a welcome improvement for birds, although I love the pixels the A7R IV has. Trade-offs! On a side note the wide-open sharpness of the 600 with the 2x is amazing.
Very impressed by the 600F4 A7R4 combo, especially the ability to crop extensively without sacrificing detail. Also reasonable at tracking BIF, at least steady fliers. A couple wood duck pics attached in this regard.

From this morning...A cliff-hanger that took off shortly after this and phew, I captured several images of this guy in flight when it flew diagonally towards my direction. I will post them later.
Tired of seeing images of peregrine falcons? I actually do have plenty more but I know, we need to change the pace somewhat. Well, here is of a juvenile burrowing owl from this morning then. I didn’t see any hunting effort from the adults for 2 hours or so. From what I could see there are 2 families with at least one adult owl in each. This youngster is hungry and it started scouring the ground for whatever it is edible.
GBH action: At the extreme end: A9ii 600f4 + 2xTC:1200mm f8 ISO 8000 1/3200 handheld, cropped. IMO, the A9ii doesn't handle low light as well as the D5 (though much better than A7r4), but it did clean up ok with Topaz Denoise. Overall, a nice catch?
