Adding to the excellent and versatile 200-600, my Sony 600 f/4 finally arrived this morning, after three excruciating days delay.
When taking the lens out of the case, the lightness was surprising.
It was very dark & dreary for weather today, but here's my first few snaps in the black hole known as my back yard. All hand-held, with 1.4 extender at 1/250 sec. using the a9. I can't wait for some better light.

Mitesh, did you use tripod or did you handhold your gear for that wonderful image of the snowgoose? Maybe it is physiological but I am a tad paranoid on using the 2X except for stationary targets, like some burrowing owl images and of some cock-of-the-rock images in Ecuador last month.

Hi Joshua,
For that image, I had the gear tripod mounted. As you know, there is a lot of standing and waiting for action to happen. I actually had two tripods set up. The other one had a 100-400 with ND filter that was set to capture the snow geese blasting off.
I would have preferred to use the lens bare at 600mm, but had I done so, I would have had to crop the image a lot to get a similar composition. Using the 2x allowed me to use the whole frame uncropped to maximize IQ and minimize noise. You shouldn’t be hesitant to use 2x whenever needed for flight or other action. Look no further than @shalu for confidence that Sony’s AF and optical systems can deliver the goods!
For the songbirds I shoot, 560 or 600 mm seems optimal.
Although I am very happy with my FE 400/2.8 and 1.4x TC, I have to agree the FE 600/4 seems an optimal choice.
