Fascinating. How many Woodpeckers are sharing that cache? It has quite a few broken "slots", are they old or broken during "construction"?

That is a wonderful set of images. I love the juvenile peregrine launch. I asked him to fly at me several times during my last visit w/o success…
Thank you. It's been hit or miss with the Peregrines this fall. I waited on this one to take off and the A1 got the first 6 exposures in focus and then the rest are soft but the light was low and I am not sure I was really setup for BIF anyway.

At least ten woodpeckers, possibly more. The granary tree has been used for generations so several of the holes are quite old.
I was there for 4 days and when the eagles were not active, I drove around in the surrounding areas. I actually went a little bit into Pennsylvania for some landscape shoot..

When you get back east again there are plenty of places down this way to visit and lots of birds. Just hit me up if you want to see some of that. Also, spring is often better for eagles when the shad are on. I never go to Conowingo in the fall. Just too many darn people
Several extended family members dealing with Covid so we didn't have any gathering on Thanksgiving Day. Got out early and had decent light for a few hours before the atmosphere haze kicked in.

Nice set! Bombay Hook? I was going to go this morning but changed my plan.
Correct. One of the images is technically on the road to the refuge but the rest are all at Bombay Hook.
A lot more people on Thanksgiving than I expected. I was the first car in at 6:30am but by 10am there were a fair amount of cars and bikes. I got out early...
If you are up this way just shoot me a note ahead of time and maybe I can make it down

Looks like the snow geese are back at Bombay Hook!
