Joined the club of oversized pancake lovers. The light was already dying.
Both Lightroom and Capture One show me wrong apertures, not the ones I used while taking shots - first time I see this.
Does not feel substantial as CV and CZ. Metal housing with air inside as glass is pancake-tiny.
Both aperture and focus rings are not mechanical (I guess AF wants control over aperture).
Huge not very popular 55mm filter thread for a pancake (why not 49mm?). I believe the only other 55mm thread lens I have is an old Zeiss Sonnar 2.8/135 from another era.
A bit annoying AF sounds - remind me of the my Canon EF 50m 1.8 I from 80th.
Images I got with it are not for pixel peeping. Overall impression seems ok (although not sure where my focus is as everything feels out of focus). Making it a special purpose lens for me. Looks like its destiny will be just like my old pristine Canon EF 40mm 2.8 which I still own - never use.
And why is the hood riffled on the outside? Cleaning dust will take extra time
Realized FW version of my lens is 1.01. Looks like they finally updated their Mac app to latest OS versions - will try to update and do some new test shots tomorrow.
UPD. For some reason the update did not work on the latest Mac. Windows updated the lens on the first attempt.
Hmm, a lot of glow in your photos. 45DN does glow, but only at close distances.
Seagulls shot looks like typical slight misfocus for this lens...
Not sure what +1EV (in post or in cam) shots are to show.

I could not find a single shot at 2.8 where I could clearly see the plane of focus.
Shots 4 to 5 were shot at +1 EV in harsh light.
Shot 1 - normal exposure. Focus at center point but nothing is sharp in the center or near it.
Yeah, the first shot is really weird (background looks pretty bad too and overall looks overexposed IMHO). Maybe a bad copy?
It shouldn't glow that much from further distance, but maybe it's the harsh light...

I did not use the lens hood. Pictures are overexposed here but this is not an issue for me - can correct exposure during shot or in post.
But lack of sharpness at 2.8 is what bothers me.
Well, you can see in Fred's test it is a sharp lens (beats CV40 in center and corners), except <1m where there is visible SA glow. Maybe try another copy...

Yeah, I tried manual focus - and didn't see things properly sharp through view finder at close and longer distances. Makes sense to try another one.
I must say my CV40 1.2 is definitely sharper than my Sigma.

Well you could turn on that option that prints a time and date stamp in the image
I decided to send it back and get 35GM instead. This would be my 5th 35mm and I even don't use/like this focal length.... I blame GAS
