Rich, the texture and feather detail on your image is just outstanding!!! As are all the other posts here!!! This camera and lens combo is just unequalled to date!!!
I am on the fence, being a Canon shooter with much Canon lenses, and was waiting for Canon's so called mega pixel rival to Sony's.
Everytime I view this forum..I get closer and closer to stopping the wait. My very good friend Douglas, kdrk888, has offered me the use of his but then the CV19 hit and now we are on hold!

Dan
Hi Dan,
Thank you. In this particular case I did increase the sharpness and detail a bit more than usual in LR. In this case I increased the sharpening to 31 and detail to 29 from the default settings of 25 to each. That was done in part due to the size of the bird, eye and face, and the image wasn't quite as sharp as some of my images taken with the lens.
I do have to make some adjustment in the processing of the images particularly for the whites in birds like the Great Egret and also whites of water in contrasty situations. But the Sony cameras in the A7r series (original, A7rII, A7rIII, and I presume A7rIV) have tremendous latitude.

Rich, I would say that your PP methods are dead on BUT the camera has the ability to allow you to do this without any degrading artifacts showing up later!
I am just blown away buy the camera and lens combo!

I vote the Sony FE 200600G the most powerful most versatile wildlife lens ever made.
Great shots from all. Mines already packed for a trip next week. Hoping for something.
