Yes we have a few different owl species on Vancouver Island.
This Barred Owl is the most common. We also have Great-Horned Owls, Short-eared Owls, N. Pygmy Owl, N. Saw Whet Owl and some rare sightings of Long-eared, Snowy, N. Hawk Owl.

We have 5 species in my area. I've only ever ever seen the Barred here. Hearing them is one thing. Finding one for an image.....

Looking at a Snowy Egret in breeding plumage in the foreground and a Wood Stork in the background. The difference in size between the birds is quite evident and a "spray" of water droplets can be seen falling from the bill of the Snowy Egret.
