Looking from the top of the Preserve down at some trees aglow from sidelighting sunlight.
Slightly cropped, tripod mounted FE 200-600mm f5.6-6.3 G set to 600mm and A7rIII, silent shutter.
ISO 400, f11, 1/60 second.
Exposure corrected +0.12.

Just received my 200-600 Yesterday evening. Took some shots today. The birds are HEAVILY cropped and anyone who has seen my pictures knows I cannot help but to have a cat shot. So far I'm pleased but notice technique is more critical @ 600 by a lot when hand holding vs 100-400.

Handheld with the Sony A6400 & Sony 200-600mm. Slowly approached as near as possible and shot with true silent shutter. I could tell from the beaver's body language that one step closer and it would dash into the pond. Also at this close distance, it would not have put up with the noise from a shutter or mirror-slap.

I was there in the first week of December and compared to last year, the numbers appeared lower. I'm not sure if the strong arctic front in late November migrated them further south. To add, I didn't focus too much on the Sandhills as I was trying to get photos of the bobcat and its kittens along with the owl in the north loop. I did capture a coyote over by the observation blind, the same mule deer which had some mange in 2018 in the Willow pond and near the flight deck, plenty of plump javelina in the south loop, gambit quail at the entrance of the refuge, which I suspect the bobcat may have be stalking.
I did spot a couple of bald eagles at the crane ponds, one was a juvenile which I didn't get a photo of.
About 850-900ft
Over my right shoulder are some long time Bosque wildlife photographers
