I went back to the same location to get the LA downtown skyline 2 times last week. I used the GM 70-200mm II plus TC the first time around. The second time around, I used the bare G 200-600mm to do the job. Although the sky was for sure clearer the second time around, and we could see the mountain range in the background, but there was more atmospheric effect, like "heat" shimmer. The images are still sharp, under high magnification, I could see the lines are somewhat wavy, especially visible on longer exposures captured later on.
When the sun very low behind me, the reddish/orangey colors of the low setting sun blanketed the entire region and some was reflected off some high rises. I toned down the colors as they looked almost unnatural...

wow this is great work! how are you getting this magnification with the 200600? extender and tubes? Thanks!
Thanks !
In these pictures I have only used Tc-1.4x are from summer 2020 then I don't own tubes
and in the last picture it is heavy crop with only 2200x pixels on the long end on A9 remaining
Last year I bought a pair of sets of JJC Automatic Extension Tube and MEIKE MK-S-AF3A for 200-600 ,100-400 GM and 90 G which works ok
Ronny
This images is att original size without crop 6000x4000 pixlar on A9 with Tc
ƒ/9.0 840.0 mm 1/800 iso 400

New a74, repaired 200-600, on a day that saw temps at -20 F. this morning, and up to zero F. when I went out.
Had the camera for three days but the cold was a bit much for me.
