Looking at a Great Blue Heron in breeding plumage.
Cropped, tripod mounted 200-600mm G set to 300mm and A7rIII; silent shutter.
ISO 100, f6.3, 1/200 second.
Exposure Corrected -0.49 Stops.

I am really enjoying the combo of a9 + 200-600. Easy to carry around, 200-600 gives a lot of flexibility and the AF speed and accuracy of the a9 is delightful. 😊😊

Great to hear your positive experience using that combo, Anil!
I am sure locals use a different name in Spanish for that bird but that’s the name that has been used by Ecuadorian birders.

It was hanging out with a flock of sparrows, and wouldn't let us get within 20 feet of it.
It's hard to say how long it's been living wild, but I think at this point, that's how it will spend the rest of it's life, good or bad.
I can say it can fly very well.

it seems like most folks are shooting this lens wide open, even in sunny conditions. any reason for that other than to achieve more background blur? per reviews, seems like sharpness increases a bit stopped down. thanks!
