Arbitrage , when you have the ability to capture images like these, as well as you have displayed every time with such clarity and perfection, with all your current equipment(A9II) it will be very interesting to see what the future brings with your A1. Always a pleasure viewing your images!

Geoff - what great shots of the rail - is it a Virginia rail.
Steve Mathias(sp) on YouTube posted a video of a Saw-whet owl today, there’s reports of a couple in the northern part of Texas, but it’s a frozen tundra up there right now, and not sure if I’m up for a 10hr drive one way

Thank you very much, Dan! I am glad and flattered you like that image. Mandarin duck is the most beautiful duck, IMHO. I have taken pictures of MDs for quite sometime and they are most common during winter months. Normally, they are quite skittish. There were times I had to use a 2X TC on a 600mm lens to get meaningful magnification.
Then a few shooting buddies of mine told me about this location where they, there were 4 males and 1 female MDs, seem to get used to human and let you get close to them. So, I went there for the first time yesterday afternoon. My main lens was the 200-600mm and I also used my GM 135mm lens to get a shallow depth-of-field. I will be posting a few more images taken with the 200-600mm lens later on. Most images were taken at their level but I did take a few from above, like the image above.

Dan, I believe Joshua posted pictures of mandarin ducks in the big Sony A7xx thread and the wildlife sub forum quite a few times in the last couple years. I saw them in Asia where they are native, I believe, but have yet to see one in the U.S. Some folks saw them at Central Park in NYC in recent winters.

I am sure he did my friend! I could spend hours and hours just viewing his posts, your posts, anyone's post here on Sony and still not realize that it was posted!!!
