Captured during testing my 200-600mm GM after the FW upgrade of the A7r IV. I am pleased with the result; about 90% of in focus images of BIF. Not necessarily keepers, of course, but really a high rate of in focus targets while in flight in various directions.

Hi George, the ironic thing is, prior to the new FW release, I almost never used that lens on my A7r IV. I used that lens a lot on my A9/A9 II. From the few I did there were OOF images but I felt that that condition was more contributed to shooting circumstances and/or user’s error . Even now, a few images were not critically sharp but I feel confident that the overall keeper rate is high. But I cannot tell whether the keeper rate is higher than prior to the FW upgrade.

Here we have a ringing station nearby, and many nuthatches are regularly caught, ringed and released, among tits, robins, chaffinches, reed buntings and woodpeckers (great spotted mainly).
We have also a reed bunting roost there (some 50 to 70 buntings counted by me a late afternoon). Maybe I will post some photos next days.
