This male peregrine falcon chick, the smallest out of the 3, and a brave female ground squirrel checked each other out. The falcon can fly already although not quite as well as his two larger siblings. There were plenty of squirrels near the falcon’s nest and they scavenged leftover food the falcons left behind. The squirrels seemingly know that falcons do not prey on them and they are quite brazen. Adult falcons do chase them away if they got too close for comfort.
This lasted just a few seconds, long enough for me to fire a few shots and the squirrel backed away.

This Roadrunner has taken up residence in our backyard. Seems to like eating the lizards. I have seen Roadrunners several times before but they don't stay. This one has been here for five days. I hope he is planning to move in.
