Damn, the weight is holding me back. 35 mm is very much THE lens for me hence I will take this lens everywhere; photo trips, family holidays, street photography etc.
Taking the "only" 750 grams Zony 50/1.4 does require extra motivation at times.
Great pictures by the way!
I got to hold one mounted on the R3 this week, while it is heavy the weight is toward the lens mount, not on the front of the lens
Build quality is very good, manual focus feel was very good
I have one coming next week, going to see how it feels out all day with it

Cool, looking forward for more samples. I have two options, buying the GM 24 and still use my ZA 35/1.4 or substitute the ZA with the Sigma. Still a bit undecided on weight and rendering (subjective opinion), otoh several pages through the 40 Nokton is enough to make me buy that lens.
If I buy the Sigma, I will be taking it, 16-35/4, 55/1.8 and 70-200/4 for our upcoming Euro trip. Seems a bit too much 😢

I know MTF isn't of utmost importance on a lens like this, but I just finished the testing and the results agree with what the thread says; shockingly sharp at f/1.2 and stopped down to just f/1.4 the center half of the image gets even sharper.

Buy both. They serve different purposes. The Sigma 35/1.2 is solely for pro work for us, as it is not a travel lens.

@jefonyx - awesome stuff as usual. Keep them coming.

Roger - you've got me convinced I should at least try 1.4.
Some more of the same from the weekend. Pretty good exhibition of AF performance.

I am renting this lens and noticed that when it does a long focus seek that it makes a surprisingly loud screech. Are others with this lens having the same experience? The IQ is phenomenal so far, and the bokeh is superb, but I am renting to determine if I will buy.

This lens is close to silent for me so that can't be good. Can you record/upload a video sample?

It sounds like a motor whine, very noticeable when it reachers for a long focus change. I’ll let the rental company know. It is almost a deal breaker on this lens. I have 2 weeks left to play with it, but so far, other than this issue, I love it.

Well that is all a matter of perspective. I have taken big lenses to travel before, so I don't like to say this lens is for this and that lens is for that because we are all different.
