Dammit guys, seriously. The last thing I need is a 1kg 35...but...but...those are some fantastic looking photos. Great bokeh, smooth, awesome context. The wickedly sharp/surprisingly smooth combo of this lens is a little bit intoxicating. I have other priorities but this made it near the top of my list. I carried around the Sigma 135/1.8 on my Nikon for ages as a 'walkaround' lens so maybe I could handle this too. Interesting to hear that the balance isn't so off...I mean, I use my 100STF as a walkaround lens...and it isn't light...so add a few hundred grams...haha.

It was hard to imagine what a 35mm baseball racket can do.. Also had some doubts about AF performance. Thanks for the demonstration

it is definitely not tiny.

And any time! Not sure what body you will be using it on, but it is solid on the A9.

I got a copy of this lens from LensRentals. It is outstanding in every way. . . . Given that this is my preferred focal length, I can see sometimes walking around with it all day. It has tremendous versatility if you love the 35mm angle of view, like me. . . . Would any of you be concerned that the weight of the lens is reasonably like to damage the lens mount if you carry it on your camera (A7RIII) with a neck strap all day?

As someone that frequently carries around my A7RIII with the 100-400 attached all day...no!

Damage to your neck is another story though!

Seriously though, amazing work in this thread!

You could use any lens with that model and succeed royally.

How much better is it over the Sony 35/1.4? My Zony is super sharp at 1.4 (tested on a tripod),only problem is me getting the photos sharp (low light camera shake etc)
The Zony’s AF is very good at low light wedding dances etc. Hows this Sigma? Anyone try it indoors and without flash...?

I used it yesterday evening, no lights, very low ambient, indoor light in my house using eye AF on my dog on an A7RIII at f1.2 It was extremely accurate using continuous focus.

The continuous AF seems extremely accurate. The single AF is more finicky but still very accurate if you zoom in before using it (which I always do with single AF for every lens).

Anyone tried this on an R2? How's the AF perform?

I sold my A7III recently, and until I replace it with a new body with decent AF (R3 or R4) I am stuck with my landscape camera pulling double duty. Keen on this lens but may not be worth it in the short term if it performs like rubbish on the R2.

I’m using the lens on my a7R II. I specifically compared it to my (soon to be put up for sale) Sony FE 50mm 1.4 ZA and the AF speed and accuracy is about the same as far as I can tell. I’m satisfied with it on my a7R II. That said, though I’m happy to share my thoughts and experiences, we all have very different tolerances and expectations and for that reason I don’t give gear recommendations.

Updated to LR 8.4 and noticed the application of the new lens profile for this lens. Suffice to say, I don't like it. Anyone else have any thoughts on the new profile?

On another note, I've now stress tested myself enough with the lens in carry situations (full day at amusement park, several mile walks in the evening, and general outings with the family) that I think I'll still be carrying it around more than not despite it not being small. The juice is worth the squeeze.

Yup. It’s gone with me almost everywhere for a few weeks now. Just the lens mounted on the a9 with either the spyder holster or a lightweight sling. My family is used to it. lol
