Couldn't resist the urge to get "the ultimate (for Sony at least) 35mm", though it's a bit big and heavy. I'm quite happy with the results so far:

Well I’m impressed at the consistent high contrast and color of this lens wide open. However, I’m worried about the substantial vignetting reported in tests although it does’t seem to be much of a factor in the posted shots (were they all automatically corrected in post?).

I am also impressed at the wide open “look” of the exterior captures-even in bright sunlight! For sure this is a superb lens and for my low light work it yields a full 1/2 stop more light than any of my current job lenses. The results at F2.0 certainly devastate my 24-70 F2.8 GM when set to 35mm and F2.8.

With regard to your question about autocorrection in post, I actually turn them all off in LR as I prefer the uncorrected look most of the time. That’s just me though. I may be in the minority.

And a two more. I'm finding this is a good deep woods lens as you can take in most of what you see of a tree and still isolate it from the surroundings.

Still hoping that someone will post shots comparing the Sigma to the Sony 35/1.4. It's clear that the Sigma has better sharpness, CA and onion rings, but I'm very curious about other rendering differences. I guess I might end up having to buy one and compare for myself.

@MrTman - I own both and must say, the different is not worth the money and the weight (in my opinion). I`m not a expert, but today I did some comparison and decided not to sell the Zony..

Really nice lens, but I really dislike the football 🏈 bokeh in the corner / at the border.

It's nearly impossible to find a lens with round bokeh in the corners, especially that's a wide angle...and f/1.2.

Next week if weather is good I will have my first outdoor formal shoot with it but here is one I did in studio.

If any of you sigma 1.2 converts have a nicely centered Zony 1.4, hit me up!

After renting this lens over the weekend, I really love the image quality it produces. Normally, I like the 35 mm field of view, but for portraits, most lenses have terrible bokeh so it is hard to get the image I want.

The Sigma is phenomenal. It gives you the intimacy of 35 mm focal length, with the f/1.2 aperture and great bokeh. I still have 1.5 weeks with it, but I am very pleased with the lens, despite its size. It is also nice because it is such a unique lens and focal length that I am able to achieve a more modern looking image without the “smartphone” look of a depth of field.

Now it is decision time if I get the Sigma 35 f/1.2, the Samyang 45 f/1.8, or both. Normally, I would never consider a Samyang lens, but Dustin Abbot gushes over the 45 f/1.8 and they are two completely different lenses both in focal length and intention.

Now I am also hoping Sigma releases a mirrorless designed 85 f/1.2 as well.

I often like getting shots of my kiddos in the morning while they're still out.

Handheld @1/8th shutter, ISO 6400, wide open.

This one was with better light. Still nice that I can handhold at 1/8th-1/15th for quick stuff like this.

I rented this and took it with me to a meetup this weekend. I really like the look, but it doesn't feel like something I need. I found myself feeling like I HAD to shoot it wide open because otherwise what's the point of hauling that beast of a lens around?

It has made me pretty fond of the 35mm FL for environmentals, though. EXIF seems to be getting stripped somewhere along my line. Both are with the Sigma 35/1.2. The first is at 1.2 with a small octabank and an AD200 to the right. The latter is at 1.3. I'm holding an AD200 with the round head in my hand right next to the lens to fill in shadows from the sun. I'm also trying to be good about not posting enormous files so I hope that worked out...

Funny, the first image of the two has nice depth to me, and the seconds lacks it. Do you have an explanation, or do I see pink elephants?
