I ordered mine from adorama a few days ago and totally didn’t realize it was a holiday until mid-week. I cancelled and ordered one from Amazon that will be here Monday as I need it for next weekend.

I do have a question, though. Being that everyone seems to have theirs locked at 1.2, what strength ND filter should I order for outdoor daytime shooting with the A7r to be safe? I usually use Breakthrough X4 CPLs to cover both polarization and some light reduction, but I’m not sure it will be enough with the 1.2 aperture.

I use mine mostly on the a9 in ES so NDs aren’t something I really use with it.

I just picked up a brand new one in the store. I immediately noticed after testing that it has a pretty noticeable high pitch sound when focusing. Kind of wonder if you guys all have the same thing or did I get a bad copy? The lens works great otherwise.

I had that squeak. I returned it for another one and it has no squeak.

I had my first outing with this lens and all I can say is wow! I've missed the 35mm on my RX1 ever since I sold it, but this lens has almost made me forget about it completely. If you can get over the size of it, this has to be the best 35mm lens out there for Sony.

Got to exchange the squeeking 35 1.2 with another copy. This one is flawless no noise bit faster AF and maybe even better overall copy. Can't put this lens down. It's simply sensational in every way. So happy with it.

Have to say, bokeh looks rather nervous.

Wow man, what did you do to the face of the child?
We’re so obsessed with sharpness that we’re going too far sharpening and adding clarity, that could be a nice picture but looks terrible to my eyes because of the over processing.

I'm not so sure of that. I've noticed that adding clarity using the slider in post will tend to do that with many images. In many images the bokeh seems very smooth. I'm taking delivery of the lens today and I will definitely see if post processing is the issue.

It is indeed post processing issues. A lot of experienced users already posting and showing how good the bokeh is so I wouldn't pay too much attention to random comment from someone that all previous posts are on the Nikon forum.

After a couple weddings, engagement, and senior sessions, this is easily my favorite 35 I've shot with.

I keep saying I'm going to post some images, but always forget. I'll post some this week hopefully

For those that want a lens in between 24 and 35mm checkout the Sigma 28mm F1.4. A new lens design in their line it is much better than their older 24mm F1.4. It has great MTF (on the Lens Rental site) just like the 40 & 35mm Sigmas. Yes it is, characteristically, Sigma heavy and large.

So very natural, the girl, the pose, the post-processing, so nice!
