Bad news. The Techart does not work at all with the Nikon Z7 II.
A "firmware" error message appears and the screen is black.
I tried to update the firmware to version 4.1.0 which is the latest on the official website but it doesn't work.
It doesn't even depend on the model I tried: in fact I went to a shop and tried it with a Z6 and it worked perfectly.
Yet on the Amazon site where I bought it, compatibility with the Z7II is declared !!

hmm that's weird, cos I bought both my Z7II and Z6II in January, and both are working with my TZE-01 after updating to firmware 4.1.0 (before updating it wouldn't work...)
I've been shooting the 70-200 f4 G and the FE 55mm f1.8 on both my Z bodies.

Check for some movement between the lens and the adapter. Some of these adapters had just enough play in them that the contact points don't match up. That's the way it is with mine. Just a slight turn of the lens and it won't focus at all. Turn it back and it focuses just fine.
It's really a nuisance and you'll often miss a shot because of the sloppiness of the adapter. Problem is Techart's customer service is non-existant.
You just described the problem I had with my GM 24-70! With my 55mm and 70-200 they work very well with the adapter but it seems like the GM 24-70 is heavy enough to introduce movement of the lens enough to lose contact with camera when I try to zoom in and out..... prob just my copy of the adapter because I've seen youtube videos where the GM 24-70. works well on the Z bodies....

David
thank you very much for your feedback David which allowed me to resolve the problem!
I realized that with the macintosh the firmware update does not work, I connected the doc to a PC with Win 10 and finally I updated the adapter.
Tested with the 16-35 GM and it works perfectly, the autofocus is responsive and does not suffer from breathing focus.

Just an update for our Nikon folks: My Sigma 35mm F1.2 didn't work on my Z6 because it is a broken lens. I went to Bestbuy and tried in on a brand new Sony A7III and got the same problem (thanks to their kind help). I sent it to Sigma US headquarter in NYC and they charged $200 and about a week and got it fixed. It is said to be the motor and they replaced it (The ebay seller of this lens paid all the cost so I won't complain too much). I have used the lens two days so far and would say it is acceptable for me. My adaptor copy is tight so the connection is fine 99% of the time. But I also found one problem: When I reduce the aperture to small (anything >=F/4.5) it will just breath and not lock AT ALL. But when it comes to F/4 or larger, it can immediately lock and it is dead on. Kind of weird, but since I am not buying this lens to use it at a small aperture, I guess I will just live with it. The face detection works just fine.

Hello to everybody in this thread.
How does Techart work with Sony lenses ? Is it reliable in AF-C and eye AF mode or only AF-S single point for example ?
Also does anybody have experience with Voigtlander lenses ? Does Techart adapter add AF functionality to them ?
Mine is Sigma 35mm F/1.2 (sony version) and Z6. Face detection, AFC AFS etc are fine. You can look at my thread above about the other information. No, it won't autofocus your manual lenses. And at least for my Zhongyi 50mm F/0.95, to be able to release the shutter, I have to tape the back of the metal contact points of the Techart adaptor

I am trying TZE-01 on Z6 II. My TZE-01 is fw 4.0. It seems to work really well, but when I import images in Lighroom, the lens type is fixed to a generic 50mm/1.4. Other EXIF data (like aperture) is fine. I did not have that problem in Z6/Z7.
Has everyone else found the same issue and is there a fix?

short update on my TZE and samyang 45 1.8.
yesterday i was in my local photo store and tried for the first time the new sigma 35 f2 lens on tze and z7ii. everything was working great. then i switched to my samyang 45 1.8 and the lens did not work at all. no af and also no mf. we also tried the lens on sony bodies, same problem.
when i got home i used lens station to see if i can reinstall firmware, lens station was not able to recognize the lens anymore...
did anybody experience similar problems with samyang lenses?...Show more →
Did you figure out this issue. I had same thing happen with Samyang 85mm f/1.4 and had to send it in for repair (they just sent me another one).
Since then I am afraid to put this lens on TZE-01.

I have been trying to find the download opportunity in the Techart App via IOS... No success.
Would be great if someone could describe how to get to the latest firmware update.

Download the apps from their website for either PC/Mac, start the apps, pick the adapter TSE-01, it will show the latest firmware there, connect the adapter with USB cable, click update. That’s all.

Thank you for the quick reply.
On the website I have been finding this: "Download the firmware upgrade app from here °PC:". Following through I am able to download firmware 2.0 (2018), but nothing newer...
Is it possible that the content differs in Euroe (I am living in Berlin) from what can be seen/retrieved in North America?

Did you pick the correct adapter ?
just check the Techart update apps. Actually there are all the firmware list in there for TZE-01 firmware, from 4.1.0, 4.0.0, 3.0.0, 2.0.0, 1.0.0. So you just have to pick the one you want to install by highlight it. Then click 'Update' at the bottom.

No matter which version of the TechArt firmware you download, the date always shows at 2018. Seems odd, but that is it. You cannot distinguish which version you have until you run it and see what updates are available. For the TZE-01 the latest is 4.1
It would also be nice if they introduced other languages than Chinese in the status window.
The adapter is a clever bit of engineering, but user interface/ customer service is awful.

Has anyone tried the Sigma 35mm f/2 DG DN Contemporary I Series with the TZE-01?
I am using the 45mm f/2.8 I Series with the TZE-01 (Z 6 and Z 7) and it works pretty well. Distortion is minimal. I was curious if the 35mm f/2 has any significant distortion issues in this combo. The 35mm f/1.2 words great, as well, but there are time I want something smaller.
The reason I ask is the 85mm f/1.4 Sigma DC DN was truly horrible with the TZE-01. The distortion was severe and uncorrectable.
