Now that's what I call a line-up of " beautifuls" ! Really nice colours. *The Sigma 135/1.8 Art = another major benefit of the L-Mount Alliance IMO.
Yes, it makes my job easy. They know how to pose and there is pretty much no retouching needed. This was shot under natural light and images are pretty much out of the camera. (I just lowered texture and clarity a bit since this lens is so sharp!)
The Sigma 135/1.8 Art is must-have lens for the SL system. Not small but similar in size/weight to my SL 50/1.4 Lux. Rendering is smoother at transition zone compared to the Leica APO primes and color correction is almost perfect. (Similar to SL 50/1.4 Lux)
It's a specialized lens capable of a unique look. I highly recommend it.

Thanks! The 90-280 apo is spectacular,... paired with the SL2-S it's a real pleasure to shoot. I have to go find some better targets than the local trees though
I hope Fred gets one and tests it, along with the 24-90
Looks great Matt. From the samples I've seen, the 90-280 SL is definitely a beauty.
I should get my 24-90 SL next week. Very curious about this zoom.

I'm really looking forward to you getting your hands on the 24-90!

SL2 + SL 75/2 APO
Natural light, minimal post, Adobe Standard profile
Again, flawless Eye AF performance and she was moving between poses.
Have you found it greatly improved with the recent firmware update to the SL2? I have the S1 and while I don't mind the AF it's not where I hope it would be.
Hope you enjoy the 24-90 Fred. I absolutely love my copy. One thing people constantly talk about is the weight and size of it. And while it's not light its actually thinner and about the same length as the Panasonic 24-70. It packs it's weight in a smaller area near the body. Well worth it in my opinion for the image quality you get in a zoom. Makes me desire the 90-280, which I should not want!
Question for all you SL2/SL2-S owners. I'm getting more familiar with my SL2-S but coming from Sony, there are some, IMO, quirky things. Right now I'm shooting strictly manual focus and I could use some help with a couple of things:
1) I set up a user profile with all desired settings for shooting in manual mode. This includes setting up focus peaking. I have it set to Red/High. In my Info Profile (under Camera Settings) I have Focus Peaking turned on. I have only one Info Profile active to keep things simple.
Here's the issue: When I turn my camera on, I see the little person icon (with a red highlight) on the right side of the screen. And focus peaking is observed on the LCD and EVF. However, when I half press the shutter button, the focus peaking icon disappears and focus peaking doesn't show while focusing until I turn the camera off and turn it back on again. Half pressing the shutter makes focus peaking disappear again for the entire time the camera is powered. What am I missing.
2) I like shooting in Aperture mode and Auto ISO. Coming from Sony, I could set my aperture and then adjust the shutter speed with a dial. On the SL2-S, there doesn't seem to be a way to assign shutter speed to a dial. Instead, I have to set a maximum shutter speed in Auto ISO Settings and then this becomes the default shutter speed.
The assignment of the top and thumb wheels seems to be limited on this camera and not fully assignable. Is this true? Is there another way I can adjust shutter speed while shooting in Aperture mode that I am missing?
3) I was going crazy when I first started to set up my camera. It would lose all it's settings and revert to default settings after shutoff and power on. I then learned to assign my preferred settings to a user profile. But this was unexpected to me.

Lastly, I am loving what this camera produces!...Show more →
Hi Bob,
I will try your selling and let you know. Great samples. The SL2's sensor works great with M-lenses, almost as good as the M rangefinder. You will be surprised by the AF accuracy when using Leica or Sigma L-lenses.

Thanks Fred! I just want to make sure I'm not missing something obvious. The strangest is the focus peaking. Fortunately the EVF is wonderful!

I am not able to replicate what you are seeing with focus peaking. Even if I half press the shutter button, that peaking "icon" stays on the screen. One advise would be to save your settings (export to the SD card), reset the camera, and bring back your customization. See if that works.

Thanks Fred - I have reset the camera a couple of times now and started fresh but I may be repeating the same mistake. I have saved my profile to the SD card but haven’t tried importing it yet.

Answer: Focus peaking does not work when Enhanced Live View is turned on.
