Have you found it greatly improved with the recent firmware update to the SL2? I have the S1 and while I don't mind the AF it's not where I hope it would be.
Hope you enjoy the 24-90 Fred. I absolutely love my copy. One thing people constantly talk about is the weight and size of it. And while it's not light its actually thinner and about the same length as the Panasonic 24-70. It packs it's weight in a smaller area near the body. Well worth it in my opinion for the image quality you get in a zoom. Makes me desire the 90-280, which I should not want!
