The Plena is now my fav Nikon lens of all time.
And I’m an 85mm guy, first. 50mm, second.
I’m adapting my style for this lens.
Nikon really outdid themselves with this beast!
It has zero weaknesses.
Neither does the 85 1.2 to be honest.
But I got the 85 1.8S for portability.
I’ll use the Plena to make special images.
Happy Holidays!
I adapted the ancient nFD 85/1.2 L again for Christmas Eve.
For the 40 years it's been around, I'm still amazed at how much plasticity it brings out, even though the light was really miserable.
Nikon Z6 & Canon nFD 85/1.2 L, f/2.2 or f/2.5 (unfortunately no values in the exif), 1/80, ISO-6400

Always wanted to go into one of those caves, but my claustrophobia wouldn’t let me. Very cool shots! Handheld?
These caves are interesting experiences. Unfortunately, they do not form in great numbers so they become heavily touristed by large groups. In order to avoid this, we arrived about an hour before first light. You set up via flashlight as best as you can and then shut all the light off. It is pitch black to our eyes, but the sensors can pick up the glow in the ice. A tripod is absolutely necessary, as you will be shooting 90 second to 3 minute exposures. This allows you to get the blue light filtering through. Once the tourists come, the shot is blown because of their headlamps. To get this shot, by the time I set up, I had a chance to make one test exposure, refine my composition and exposure, and fire off 3 shots or so... after this, a group of 20 tourists came in, and the shooting opportunities became very limited.
