Was traveling yesterday during the close approach of Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS and was hoping I didn't miss the show, but it was still doing its thing tonight...that tail! Almost puts Neowise to shame.
Monterey Bay Sea Kayak - Went out about a mile and a half. Tough shooting with the camera in a dry bag by my feet and having to undo my water skirt each time for a shot, not to mention the three foot swells. Had some awesome whale sightings but was not going to have the reach for anything worthwhile. Otters, sea lions and harbor seals were a lot more accommodating.
The senior in my collection, CZJ 58mm f/2 Biotar Pre-Set split ring model with 12-blades from the early 1950's, even with matching aluminum lens hood.
Haven't used it for a long time, about time again before I pass the lens on to the third generation in the foreseeable future.
The lens has already captured our childhood in thousands of pictures/slides, "unbreakable" workhorse.
I was actually not in a good spot to catch the Northern Lights last week. It seemed like I saw people just a few hours away from me in all directions that had them fill the sky. But I still felt fortunate to get this image. This is the at Goodnoe Hills, in Klickitat County, southern Washington state.

I'm like a kid on Christmas today.... I bought a new Z8, 24-70/2.8 S, and the 135/1.8 S Plena. I come from Leica, I typically shoot an M6 and a Q2 Reporter. Recently my wife says "I want you to get a camera like you used to have, I liked the photos you took back then". She was referring to my D850 that I sold to get into Leica in the first place. I used to do portrait work with various models and friends.
I kept my Leica gear, and bought the Nikon gear today. I was chomping at the bit to get out and shoot a little. I begged her to walk in our downtown area, and let me shoot some photos.
Both of these were shot with the Plena. I am tickled with the performance of this lens thus far. Go check out the Original size on Flickr.

It may not have the sky filled with lights, but I think it's a great photo.
